The About page copy is not easy to write, not even if you have 10 years of experience writing all kinds of texts 一 blog posts, case studies, essays, press releases, product descriptions, etc.

If you feel confused, it’s perfectly understandable 一 you want your readers to connect with you on a more personal level, but, at the same time, you don’t want to reveal every aspect of your life. It can get hard to find a balance. That’s why we would suggest you keep the text short and sweet. Write no more than 10 sentences that explain who you are, what you do, and why you are credible to discuss the topics on your blog. If, however, you are willing to invest more time into writing the About page text, we would encourage you to follow these tips:

1. People love storytimes. Don’t be afraid to share your journey from the beginning to “end” 一 how you started, why you decided to become a blogger, what you are doing right now, etc.

2. When writing the text, be honest 一 share the good, the bad, and the ugly side of being a blogger, but don’t focus on the negative. Readers love to read unfiltered, raw texts that are true.

3. Feel free to include information about yourself only your family members/friends know, if you feel comfortable. You can mention what you studied/majored, what your pet’s name is, what your best friend’s/partner’s name is, etc. The more details you share, the more site visitors will feel like they know the real you and will be able to relate to you.

4. Add a picture of yourself or a video that shows you true colors 一 who you are as a professional blogger and who you are once the spotlight turns off. In 2018 and 2019, videos became extremely popular (with good reason!), so consider adding one.

5. If the About page text is longer than you anticipated or wanted, but you don’t feel like chopping the text down, highlight the parts of the story that are essential by bolding them.

6. At the very end of the text, add a call to action. Ad a short yet powerful sentence that will encourage your blog visitors to follow you on social media or to send you emails if they have any questions.

About page content 一 done!
