Ippo is WordPress blog and portfolio theme. Lightweight, with attractive and modern design, it draws visitor’s attention to the content. Theme can be used for blogging, or portfolio theme.

Installing WordPress

WordPress is well-known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances, installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less then five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you. However, we strongly recommend that you install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help http://codex.WordPress.org/Installing_WordPress.

Theme Installation

Theme can be installed in two different ways:

  • Installing through WordPress
  • The Traditional installation using FTP client

Installing through WordPress

Installing a theme through WordPress is quite easy and it will take only few minutes of your time. Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Appearance -> Themes. Click on Add New button, and then Upload from the navigation bar right below it. Click on Choose File button, and browse your computer for ippo.zip file and click Install Now. After installation is complete, click on Activate link.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for ippo.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded.

The Traditional installation using FTP client

First things first, you will need an FTP client (example FileZilla which is free, easy to use and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux) to access your web host server. Now that you have access to your WordPress installation files simply transfer your unzipped theme to your server in the ..wp-content/themes/. The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Themes, search for Ippo and click Activate link right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for ippo.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded. For more detailed explanation on how to install themes, visit this link.

First Steps After Theme Activation

Ippo theme uses latest post reading setting. Of course, you can set theme to display desired static page, instead of posts, but you will also need to create posts page.

Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Settings -> Reading. Set Front page displays option to Your latest posts. Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Pages – > Add New. Create new page – enter title (e.g. Home). Click on Publish button in order to populate page. Now create another new page (e.g. Blog), with Default page template, using the same method.
When you are done, go to Settings -> Reading. and set the theme to display static page. Then select previously create pages – for Front page select your desired page (e.g. Home), and for Posts page select your page with Default page template (e.g. Blog) . The page you select for your Post page will display all blog posts.
Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks, we strongly suggest the use of pretty permalinks. Go to Setting -> Permalinks and select Post name.

Installing suggested plugins

Ippo theme comes with extra plugins. After theme activation, you will be prompted to install and/or activate those plugins.

Some plugins are required, since they adds theme functionalities. Other plugins are there to add some extra features.

Flickr Badges Widget

Flickr Badges Widget plugin allows you to display your Flickr photos in the sidebar. After activating the plugin an new widget called Wolf Flickr will be available in Appearance -> Widgets. Here you can set widget options – enter Flickr username, title, text and number of photos.

Ippo Contact Form

Ippo Contact Form plugin will add Contact Us page template where will be displayed contact form and Google map with location marker.

Ippo Widgets

Ippo theme comes with custom widgets which extends default widgets. Included widgets are:

JP Widget Visibility

Instead of dealing with different sidebar areas and setting same widgets for different pages or posts, this plugin allows you to set visibility for each widget. This means that you can set which widget will appear on what page and/or post.
In Appearance -> Widgets you will find that each widget now have additional button Visibility. Read more in Widgets section.

TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

TK Shortcodes

TK Shortcodes plugin will add awesome shortcodes to your theme. With them you can enrich your content and create different content layouts. Learn more about Themes Kingdom Shortcodes.

TK Social Share

TK Social Share plugin adds social share component to Ippo theme. After plugin installation, and activation, new option TK Social Share will appear in admin panel sidebar. TK Social Share plugin settings:

  1. General Settings: Her you can set turn on or off where social share plugin will appear – on posts, pages and on archive page.
  2. Social Settings: Easily add or remove desired sharing services. Simply drag and drop desired social networks sharing to enabled services.
  3. Display Settings: Display settings panel allows you to customize position of sharing buttons, and to select style for your sharing buttons.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like Ippo demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

Site Identity

Site Identity allows you to set your site title, tagline and icon. Site title is the name of your site and it’s displayed in the header, where logo is displayed. Tagline is short description, or your motto, and it’s displayed just under the title. This setting is the same as in Settings -> General in WordPress admin panel.

  1. Site title: Name of your site.
  2. Tagline: Site punchline.
  3. Site Icon: The Site Icon is used as a browser and app icon for your site. Icons must be square, and at least 512px wide and tall.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to upload image that will be used as background image instead of solid color.

  1. Background Image: Upload your background image. JPG, PNG and GIF formats are supported.
  2. Background Repeat: If you are using large, one piece image, then you should set No Repeat option. However if you plan to use smaller, repeating pattern, then you should select:
    1. Tile: Image will be repeated by default, starting from top left corner.
    2. Tile Horizontally: Image will be repeated horizontally, starting from top left corner.
    3. Tile Vertically: Image will be repeated vertically, starting from top left corner.
  3. Background Position: Defines where and how background should be placed. You should use Center if you are using large, one piece background.
  4. Background Attachment: Defines if background image will have fixed position, and always visible to the user, or it will scroll as user scrolls through the site.

This option allows you to quick manage created menus. You can select which created menu will be displayed as Primary Menu or Social Menu. If you need to manage actual menu items, you can do that in Appearance -> Menu.

Widgets

Widgets section allows you to quickly manage widgets in widget areas. This option allows you the same possibility as Widgets option in WordPress admin panel.

Static Front Page

This option works the same way as Settings -> Reading. It allows you to set them to read latest post or to use static pages for landing and blog page.

Header Settings

Header settings option allows you to manage how navigation will be displayed, and to enable or disable fixed header(“sticky” header).

Ippo theme comes with featured slider which uses featured images from posts. In Featured Slider section you can enable or disable slider and manage slider appearance.

  1. Check to enable Featured Slider: Check this option to enable featured slider on the homepage.
  2. Slider layout: Slider can be displayed as full-width slider or as carousel slider. Carousel slider will display only central image in foucs, while next and previous images are blurred.
  3. Full width slider text alignment: On full width slider you can choose where text will be positioned. Text can be placed on left, center or right.
  4. Select Category: Select post category which will be used for featured slider. If you don’t select any category, then posts from all categories will be displayed.
  5. Exclude posts from this category to display in post listings: If enabled, posts that are displayed in the slider will not be displayed on post landing page with other posts.
  6. Select Posts Number: Select how many posts will be displayed in slider.

Layout Settings

Layout settings are used to manage number of columns, filtering and enable/disable author box.

  1. Blog layout: Blog layout can be displayed in three or four columns.
  2. Enable posts category filter on blog: If enabled, active filter with post categories will be displayed above the posts.
  3. Display author box under single post content: If enabled, box with author info will be displayed under single post content.

Paging Settings

In Pagging Settings section you can set what paging will be used – classic or infinite scroll, and to set how infinite scroll will load posts.

  1. Choose Archives Paging Type: Select what paging will be used – classic, or infinite scroll.
  2. Choose infinite load type: For infinite loading you can set loading on click or on scroll.


In Ippo theme you can display Instagram feed in the footer. Instagram feed will be displayed as horizontal list.

  1. Check to enable Instagram section in pre-footer area: If enabled, Instagram feed will be displayed above the footer.
  2. Your Instagram username: Enter just your Instagram username (e.g. themeskingdom).
  3. Instagram text to display under feed: Short text that will be displayed under the feed.

Portfolio Settings

Portfolio settings are used to manage number of columns, filtering and enable/disable author box on portfolio pages. Please note that Ippo Custom Post types plugin should be installed and activated.

  1. Portfolio layout: Portfolio layout can be displayed in three or four columns.
  2. Enable portfolio type filter on portfolio archives pages: If enabled, active filter with portfolio categories will be displayed above the portfolio posts.
  3. Display author box under single portfolio content: If enabled, box with author info will be displayed under single portfolio content.
  4. Number of projects to display on archives: How many projects will be displayed on portfolio page.

Contact Settings

In Contact Page Settings you can manage map settings that will be displayed on page with Contact page template, set contact form email address, and to turn on or off contact form and Captcha code.

  1. Display contact page map: Checking this option will display map on the contact page.
  2. Display contact form captcha: Checking this option will enable Captcha code on the contact page.
  3. Display contact form: Checking this option will display contact form on the contact page.
  4. Contact Email address: Email where messages submitted through contact form will be sent.
  5. Map Color: Custom color which is used to highlight map.
  6. Map X coordinate and Map Y coordinate: Desired location longitude and latitude. You can get map coordinates here: http://www.mapcoordinates.net/en
  7. Map Zoom Factor: Default level of Zoom. Maximum value is 21, minimal value 1. For best visibility recommended value is 16.
  8. Map Marker Title: Text that you wish to appear on map marker info bubble. If empty, info bubble will not be displayed.
  9. Map Type: Select map type to display. Hybrid(combination of satellite and roadmap), Roadmap, Satellite and Terrain map types are available.

Color Settings

Colors panel allows you to set color for some elements in the theme.

  1. General Theme Colors: General colors of the theme. Here you can set colors for headings, links, text…
  2. Header Colors: Color of main navigation elements and header navigation background color.
  3. Home Slider: Slider navigation and text colors.
  4. Footer Colors: Footer background, link and text colors.

Font Settings

Ippo theme allows you to set font family and font weight for headings, paragraphs, and navigation elements.

Custom CSS

In custom CSS section you can enter your custom classes, so you don’t need to mess with original styles, or create child theme. Of course, you should create child theme if you plan to modify other files as well.

Ippo theme comes with one default menu location – primary menu, and social menu.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

Social menu is used to display links to the social profiles.

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
  5. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  6. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.

Ippo theme have four widget areas – default sidebar, and three footer widget areas.

Widgets Visibility

If you have installed Widget Visibility plugin that is bundled with the theme, you will be able to set widget visibility depending from post or page. Visibility works in simple if or if not logic. This means that you can set widget to be visible if some condition is, or if it’s not matched. Widget visibility options will be displayed as part of the widget.

Example 1:
Show widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Show only, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed only on contact page.

Example 2:
Hide widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Hide, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be hidden only on contact page.

Custom widgets

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

  1. Select Ad: Select ad you want to show.
  2. Ad size: Ads can be shown in “fullwidth” or “halfwidth”. Size is calculated based on widget area width.
  3. Bottom margin: Spacing between bottom of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
  4. Top margin: Spacing between top of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
Flickr Badges

Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Flickr Badges Widget plugin.

  1. Title: Insert widget title.
  2. Type: The type of images from user or group.
  3. Insert Flickr ID: Instructions how to get Flickr ID: http://zourbuth.com/tools/flickr-nsid/ .
  4. Number: Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget.
  5. Display Method: You can set widget to display latest or random images.
  6. Sizes: Set size for displayed images. It can be standard, thumbnail and medium.
  7. Show Copyright: Show widget copyright with link on the front page.
  8. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.
Instagram feed widget

Instagram feed widget will display images from desired Instagram account.

  1. Title: Title for your Instagram feed widgets.
  2. Username: Instagram username from which will be displayed images.
  3. Number of photos: Number of photos that will be displayed in the feed.
  4. Open links in: Where links will be opened – in the same tab or in the new one.
  5. Link text: Text that will appear for Instagram profile link.

Posts

Ippo theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Gallery, Video, Quote and Link.

    1. Post title: Name of your post. It will be displayed on the front end.
    2. Post content: Content of your post – text, images, shortcodes and other.
    3. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
    4. Post formats: Different post formats will display content in different way. You can choose one of the following post formats:
      1. Standard
      2. Gallery
      3. Video
      4. Quote
      5. Link
    5. Category: Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    6. Tags: Tags are words that allows you to organize posts by similar content.
    7. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Gallery post format

Gallery post format allows you to set several images which will be displayed as slideshow on the single post page. After selection Gallery format, additional Gallery Fields will be displayed. You can add additional Gallery images fileds, so you can upload desired images. Featured image will be used as cover image on the front page, while additional images will be displayed as slideshow on single post page.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. Featured image and text will be displayed on white background.

“Sticky” posts are displayed at the top of other posts.

To create “sticky” post, login into WordPress admin panel and go to Posts -> All Posts. Find post that you wish to make “sticky”, and click on Quick Edit link under it. Check “Make this post sticky” box, and click Update button to save changes.

Spotlight post

Spotlight post is featured post that is displayed twice of it’s size. Spotlight post can be any post. If you need, you can combine sticky and spotlight posts. To create spotlight post, simply add Tag “spotlight” to your post, and save changes.

Pages

Pages are for content such as About, Contact, etc. Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information about yourself or your site — information that is always applicable. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content.

Ippo theme uses two different page templates to display different information. Included page templates: Default Templates and Contact Us.

  • Default Template – Default Template is multipurpose page template, without any special property.
  • Contact Us – Contact Us page template is used to display map and contact form. Primary is used to display contact information. If you need to set custom email address where email will be sent, you can do that in The Customizer -> Contact.
  • Headline Template – If you don’t wish to use the slider, but you need to display some static text or content above blog posts, then you should use this page template.
  • Portfolio Template – On page with Portfolio Template will be displayed all Portfolio items.

Portfolio

Portfolio is custom post type, that comes with Ippo Custom Post Types plugin. Portfolio(or Projects) are used to display your work on page with Portfolio Tempalate. Portfolio items can be associated with Portfolio categories.

  1. Project name: Enter your project name.
  2. Project content: Content of your project – text, images, shortcodes and other.
  3. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your project, and set project status – draft, in review or published.
  4. Category: Each project can be filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows projects to be grouped with others of similar content.
  5. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.

Advertising

Advertising post type allows you to create ads that will be displayed in Advertising Widget. This widget can be placed in footer, custom sidebar or default sidebar. In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Advertising Widget Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

  1. Advertisement name.
  2. Ad view / click statistics. Blue line represents number of views and while red represents number of clicks.
  3. Advertisement link: Link where advertisement is pointing. You should enter full URL (http://www.example.com).
  4. Custom banner code. Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  5. Once you click update/publish, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.
  6. Featured image will be used as advertisement image.

Goodz Magazine Widget adds custom widgets to the theme. Included widgets are:

TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

TK Shortcodes

TK Shortcodes plugin will add awesome shortcodes to your theme. With them you can enrich your content and create different content layouts. Learn more about Themes Kingdom Shortcodes.

TK Social Share

TK Social Share plugin adds social share component to Goodz Magazine theme. After plugin installation, and activation, new option TK Social Share will appear in admin panel sidebar. TK Social Share plugin settings:

  1. General Settings: Her you can set turn on or off where social share plugin will appear – on posts, pages and on archive page.
  2. Social Settings: Easily add or remove desired sharing services. Simply drag and drop desired social networks sharing to enabled services.
  3. Display Settings: Display settings panel allows you to customize position of sharing buttons, and to select style for your sharing buttons.
WooCommerce plugin

WooCommerce is most popular e-commerce plugin for WordPress. After plugin installation, it’s important that you go through setup process.

YITH WooCommerce Wishlist

YITH WooCommerce Wishlist plugin adds wishlist functionality to WooCommerce. Wishlist allows users to save items, and later select which one they wish to purchase.

Importing Demo Content

Read first: Before importing content, please make sure to install all required plugins!

One Click Demo Installation

Goodz Shop theme comes with maximally simplified demo installation. This feature will install demo and set your site to look exactly like one of several Goodz Shop demos.
Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> import Sample Data.

First select desired demo, by clicking on it, and then click on Import Demo Data.

Please note that import will take a while – lot of images and content should be imported.

Note: If it happen that demo import suddenly stops, simply select same demo again, and click on Import Demo Data again. Depending from your server configuration, it might happen that you will need to do this few times.
This can be fixed by:

  • Contacting your hosting provider, and asking them to increase max_execution_time in your php.ini configuration.
  • or

  • Add set_time_limit(240); line to your wp-config.php file.
  • or

  • Install WP Maximum Execution Time Exceeded plugin.

Traditional Demo Import

If you want your site to look like Eveny demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

Site Identity

Site Identity allows you to set your site title, tagline and icon. Site title is the name of your site and it’s displayed in the header, where logo is displayed. Tagline is short description, or your motto, and it’s displayed just under the title. This setting is the same as in Settings -> General in WordPress admin panel.

  1. Site title: Name of your site.
  2. Tagline: Site punchline.
  3. Site Icon: The Site Icon is used as a browser and app icon for your site. Icons must be square, and at least 512px wide and tall.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to upload image that will be used as background image instead of solid color.

  1. Background Image: Upload your background image. JPG, PNG and GIF formats are supported.
  2. Background Repeat: If you are using large, one piece image, then you should set No Repeat option. However if you plan to use smaller, repeating pattern, then you should select:
    1. Tile: Image will be repeated by default, starting from top left corner.
    2. Tile Horizontally: Image will be repeated horizontally, starting from top left corner.
    3. Tile Vertically: Image will be repeated vertically, starting from top left corner.
  3. Background Position: Defines where and how background should be placed. You should use Center if you are using large, one piece background.
  4. Background Attachment: Defines if background image will have fixed position, and always visible to the user, or it will scroll as user scrolls through the site.

This option allows you to quick manage created menus. You can select which created menu will be displayed as Primary Menu or Social Menu. If you need to manage actual menu items, you can do that in Appearance -> Menu.

Widgets

Widgets section allows you to quickly manage widgets in widget areas. This option allows you the same possibility as Widgets option in WordPress admin panel.

Static Front Page

This option works the same way as Settings -> Reading. It allows you to set them to read latest post or to use static pages for landing and blog page.

Here you can set your site logo. You can set standard and retina logo. Logo can be in JPG, PNG and GIF format, up to 500KB.
Please note that site title and logo can not be displayed at the same time – if you set them both, logo will be displayed.

  1. Site logo: Logo image for your site. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB.
  2. Retina logo: Logo variant for Retina displays (iPhone). It should be in SVG.

Contact Page Settings

In Contact Page Settings you can manage map settings that will be displayed on page with Contact page template, set contact form email address, and to turn on or off contact form and Captcha code.

  1. Display contact page map: Checking this option will display map on the contact page.
  2. Display contact form captcha: Checking this option will enable Captcha code on the contact page.
  3. Display contact form: Checking this option will display contact form on the contact page.
  4. Contact Email address: Email where messages submitted through contact form will be sent.
  5. Map Color: Custom color which is used to highlight map.
  6. Map X coordinate and Map Y coordinate: Desired location longitude and latitude. You can get map coordinates here: http://www.mapcoordinates.net/en
  7. Map Zoom Factor: Default level of Zoom. Maximum value is 21, minimal value 1. For best visibility recommended value is 16.
  8. Map Marker Title: Text that you wish to appear on map marker info bubble. If empty, info bubble will not be displayed.
  9. Map Type: Select map type to display. Hybrid(combination of satellite and roadmap), Roadmap, Satellite and Terrain map types are available.

Colors

Colors panel allows you to set color for different elements in the theme. There are three subpanels:

  • General Theme Colors: Color settings for elements across the whole site – text, headings, links.
  • Header Colors: Color settings for header elements – logo, navigation and background.
  • Front Page Header Colors: For homepage you can set different colors in the navigation. For all other pages, color settings from Header Colors will be applied./li>
  • Footer Colors: Footer background, text and links colors.

Note: For both header settings there is option Check to enable header transparency. If this option is enabled, header will be transparent. When header is transparent, you can set different color for it Transparent Header – Navigation Color. This color will be used only if you have enabled transparent header.

Font Settings

goodz-shop-fontsFont settings panel adds much needed customization to the theme. Here you can set font family and font weight for headers, body text and navigation.

Shop Settings

Shop Settings contains two options:

Shop Layout

goodz-shop-shop-layoutIn Shop Layout you can set layout options for shop and single product page.

  • Choose Shop Layout: Shop layout can be set to Boxed or Full Width. If layout is set to boxed, shop width will be set to 1240px, while in full width mode is 1640px.
  • Choose Single Product Layout: Same as Shop layout, single product page can be set to boxed or full width.
  • Choose Layout Type: Shop page can display products in two ways – regular grid or masonry. Regular Grid will display product image, with product title and price under it. Masonry will display just product images in their original proportions, sorted to fullfill content area.
  • Choose Shop Sidebar: Shop page can be displayed without sidebar and with sidebar. Sidebar position can be left or right.
  • Number Of Product Columns: Defines in how many columns products will be displayed. Number of columns can be from 2 to 6.
  • Product display type: Products on shop page can be displayed in two ways: standard view – product image is displayed, and product title and price under the image, or gallery view where just images are displayed, and product name and price are displayed as hover over product image.
  • Enable “Quick view” for standard view product display type: If this option is enabled, whn user clicks on single product on shop page, product image, name, price and Add to cart button will be displayed in lightbox mode. User can proceed to single product page or to return to shop page grid.
  • Enter number of products to display on shop page: Enter how many products will be displayed on shop page.
  • Choose Shop Paging Type: Shop page can use standard pagination or infinite scroll.
  • Choose infinite load type: Infinite load can be activated on user scroll, or on click. If the infinite scroll is set to activate on click, Load More button will be displayed, and new posts will be loaded only when user clicks on this button.
Product Social Share

goodz-shop-product-social-shareProduct social share options allows you to enable or disable social sharing option on single product page. You don’t need to have TK Social Share plugin active for this feature.

Blog Settings

In Blog Settings panel you can set layout options for blog and blog featured slider.

Layout Settings

In Layout Settings panel you can set archives and single post layout, and set pagination or infinite scroll on your archives pages.

  1. Choose Archive Pages Layout: Archive page can be boxed or full width. Boxed will be limited to 810px width. Full width will follow the screen width.
  2. Display Posts in Two Columns: Posts will be always displayed in two columns on archive page.
  3. Choose Single Page / Post: Single Page / Post page can be boxed or full width. Boxed will be limited to 1140 width. Full width will follow the screen width.
  4. Choose Archive Paging Type: Archive page can use standard pagination or infinite scroll.
  5. Choose infinite load type: Infinite load can be activated on user scroll, or on click. If the infinite scroll is set to activate on click, Load More button will be displayed, and new posts will be loaded only when user clicks on this button.
Featured Slider

goodz-shop-blog-featured-sliderFeatured slider is great way to promote your posts. Slider will appear only on homepage, and it will display featured images from posts that are associated with desired category.

  1. Check to enable Featured Slider: Check this box in order to enable featured slider.
  2. Select Category: Posts category from which featured images will be displayed.
  3. Enable fullwidth: Check this option to make slider full-width. Otherwise, slider will be displayed in boxed mode.
  4. Select Posts Number: Number of posts that will appear in the slider. First will be displayed newer posts.

Front Page Settings

Front Page Settings panel contains all options that are needed to set great looking landing page. Included subpanels allows you to customize on the homepage:

  • Blog & Instagram Section Settings

Front Page Slider Settings

Note: You will need to have installed and activated Goodz Magazine Custom Post Types in order to have access to the slides.

Call to Action Section Settings

goodz-shop-call-to-action-1Call to Action area is great way to promote sales, brands, new items and other. Call to Action area is displayed just under the slider.

  • Before setting up call to action layout, you will need to enable it. Check to enable Call To Action section on front page.
  • Choose Call To Action Layout: Call to Action section can be separated to display up to 3 boxes with different content. Included layout options are:
    • 1/3 + 2/3: Left box is 1/3 of the width, and right one 2/3 of the width.
    • 2/3 + 1/3: Left box is 2/3 of the width, and right one 1/3 of the width.
    • 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3: Three boxes are displayed, and each of them is taking 1/3 of the width.
    • 1/2 + 1/2: Two boxes are displayed, each of them 1/2 of the width.
    • Fullwidth: Fullwidth Call To Action area is displayed as single box.
  • Call To Action boxes can be cutomized to display different images and text.
    • First Box: Bg Image: Background image for Call To Action box.
    • First Box: Title: Title for Call To Action box.
    • First Box: Subtitle / Description: Description or subtitle that will appear under the title.
    • Title & Subtitle Color: Color for title and subtitle text.
    • First Box: Title And Subtitle Position: Position for title and subtitle/description text.
    • Call To Action Link Text: Text that will be used as link.
    • Text Color: Text link color.
    • First Box: Call To Action Text Position: Position of link inside the box.
    • First Box: Call To Action Link: Where Call To Action link will lead.

Options are same for each additional box.

Product Categories Section Settings

goodz-shop-product-categoriesProduct Categories section is displayed just under Call To Action section, and it will display selected product categories.

  • Check to enable “Product categories” section: Check this option if you wish to enable this section.
  • Title for “Product categories” section: Enter desired title for the section.
  • Title color: Select color for product categories section title.
  • Text color: Select color for product categories text description.
  • Text for this section that goes under section title: Short description of the section.
  • Section background color: Background color for “Product categories” section.
  • Choose categories to display in this section: Select desired product categories. Categories without products will not be displayed.

Note: You will need to have installed and activated WooCommerce plugin in order to manage product categories.

Products Section Settings

goodz-shop-products-sectionPurpose of Product Section is to display single product category in carousle or grid view. This section is usually used for the new products, or best sellers, or whatever category you wish to display.

  • Check to enable products section on front page: Check this option if you wish to enable this section.
  • Title for section: Title for Best Selling section.
  • Subtitle for section: Subtitle or short description for this section.
  • Choose type of display: Items can be displayed as carousel or product grid.
  • Choose product category: Select product category which will be displayed in this section. Categories without products will not be displayed.
  • Number of products to display: How many products will be displayed. Keep this number optimized in order to avoid slowing down page.

Note: You will need to have installed and activated WooCommerce plugin, and at least several products populated.

Blog & Instagram Section Settings

goodz-shop-blog-instagramOn the homepage can be displayed Blog posts and Instagram posts as well.

  • Check to enable Blog section on front page: Check this option to enable blog section on the homepage.
  • Choose blog category to display: Select posts category from which will be displayed blog posts.
  • Check to enable Instagram section on front page: Check this options if you wish to enable Instagram on the homepage.
  • Your Instagram username: Images from Instagram section will be pulled from entered username.
  • Your Instagram text: Short description about your Instagram feed.

Note: If you enable just Blog or Instagram, they will be displayed full width. If both Blog and Instagram are enabled, they will be displayed half-width.

Brands Section Settings

Brands section will display all posts from Brands post type. Brands will be displayed inline or multi-line, depending from image size. You will need to have installed and activated Goodz Magazine Custom Post Types in order to have access to Brands custom post type.

Front Page Sections Order

goodz-shop-front-page-sections-orderFront Page Sections Order panel allows you to easily turn on and off sections on the homepage, and to change their order. You can turn on or off sections on the homepage by checking box near the name of desired section.
Changing order works as drag and drop – place your mouse pointer over the three lines on the right, near section name, and it will turn into four-way arrow. Press down left mouse button and drag section to desired position.

goodz-shop-footerIn Footer Copyright Text field you can enter desired text which will be displayed in the footer. You can use simple HTML markup to display bold text, italic, links or other.

Custom CSS

goodz-shop-custom-cssCustom CSS allows you to add your classes and override theme styles, without need to edit original files or create child theme.

Goodz Shop theme comes with one default menu location – primary menu.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
  5. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  6. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

You can create additional menus, and place them in the footer usin Custom Menu widget.

Goodz Shop Mega Menu
Goodz Shop theme comes with one extra feature for primary menu – mega menu layout. Instead of displaying menu items in standard, separate dropdowns, they can be displayed as big, solid menu. Mega menu is more attractive, and visually is different from standard menu.

To create mega menu, you will first need to create regular menu in Appearance -> Menus.
When you are done:

  1. In Menu screen, click on Screen Options button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Check option CSS Classes, and close Screen Options. This way you will display additional field CSS Classes in your menu items.
  3. To the top parent menu item, with several child items, add this class mega-menu-dropdown. Please note that this class can be added only to the top item, and not submenus.
  4. Save changes when you are done.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.

Goodz Shop theme have three widget areas – default sidebar, and three footer widget areas.

Widgets Visibility

If you have installed Widget Visibility plugin that is bundled with the theme, you will be able to set widget visibility depending from post or page. Visibility works in simple if or if not logic. This means that you can set widget to be visible if some condition is, or if it’s not matched. Widget visibility options will be displayed as part of the widget.

Example 1:
Show widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Show only, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed only on contact page.

Example 2:
Hide widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Hide, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be hidden only on contact page.

Custom widgets

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

  1. Select Ad: Select ad you want to show.
  2. Ad size: Ads can be shown in “fullwidth” or “halfwidth”. Size is calculated based on widget area width.
  3. Bottom margin: Spacing between bottom of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
  4. Top margin: Spacing between top of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
Flickr Badges

Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Flickr Badges Widget plugin.

  1. Title: Insert widget title.
  2. Type: The type of images from user or group.
  3. Insert Flickr ID: Instructions how to get Flickr ID: http://zourbuth.com/tools/flickr-nsid/ .
  4. Number: Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget.
  5. Display Method: You can set widget to display latest or random images.
  6. Sizes: Set size for displayed images. It can be standard, thumbnail and medium.
  7. Show Copyright: Show widget copyright with link on the front page.
  8. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.
Instagram feed widget

Instagram feed widget will display images from desired Instagram account.

  1. Title: Title for your Instagram feed widgets.
  2. Username: Instagram username from which will be displayed images.
  3. Number of photos: Number of photos that will be displayed in the feed.
  4. Open links in: Where links will be opened – in the same tab or in the new one.
  5. Link text: Text that will appear for Instagram profile link.

Posts

Goodz Shop theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Gallery, Video, Quote and Link.

    1. Post title: Name of your post. It will be displayed on the front end.
    2. Post content: Content of your post – text, images, shortcodes and other.
    3. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
    4. Post formats: Different post formats will display content in different way. You can choose one of the following post formats:
      1. Standard
      2. Gallery
      3. Video
      4. Quote
      5. Link
    5. Category: Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    6. Tags: Tags are words that allows you to organize posts by similar content.
    7. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Gallery post format

Gallery post format allows you to set several images which will be displayed as slideshow on the single post page. After selection Gallery format, additional Gallery Fields will be displayed. You can add additional Gallery images fileds, so you can upload desired images. Featured image will be used as cover image on the front page, while additional images will be displayed as slideshow on single post page.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. Featured image and text will be displayed on white background.

Pages

Pages are for content such as About, Contact, etc. Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information about yourself or your site — information that is always applicable. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content.

Goodz Shop theme uses two different page templates to display different information. Included page templates: Default Templates and Front Page Template. With Goodz Contact Form plugin you will also get Contact Us page template.

  • Default Template – Default Template is multipurpose page template, without any special property.
  • Front Page Template is used for homepage. Without setting up static landing page with Front Page Template, homepage sections will not be displayed.
  • Contact Us – Contact Us page template is used to display map and contact form. Primary is used to display contact information. If you need to set custom email address where email will be sent, you can do that in The Customizer -> Contact.

Slider

Slider is custom post type is used to create slides on the homepage. Slider on the homepage can be enabled in Front Page Settings. Slider is displaying featured image from single slide, so the image should be in good resolution 1920px wide at least.

  2. Slide description text: Short text that will be displayed on the slider. This should be short description.
  3. Headline Url: Link where slider title will lead.
  4. Headline Color: Slider title color.
  5. Headline Hover Color: Title color on hover.
  6. Text Color: Color of the text.
  7. Button Text: Text that will be displayed on slider button. Button will be displayed under the slide description.
  8. Button Bg Color: Background color of the button.
  9. Button Bg Hover Color: Background color of the button on hover.
  10. Button Text Color: Button text color.
  11. Button Text Hover Color: Button text color on hover.
  12. Button Border Color: Border color of the button.
  13. Button Border Hover Color: Border color of the button on hover effect.
  14. Button Link: URL where button should lead.
  15. Text alignment: Text alignment in the button. Can be Left, Right or Center.
  16. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
  17. Slider Categories: Categories allows you to easily group and manage slides.
  18. Set Featured Image: Featured image is used to display slider image. For the best results you should optimize all images to be the same size and in high quality – at least 1920px.

Brands

Brands is custom post type that is used to display brands logos on the homepage. Brands on the homepage can be enabled in Brands Settings section in the customizer.

Advertising

Advertising post type allows you to create ads that will be displayed in Advertising Widget. This widget can be placed in footer, custom sidebar or default sidebar. In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Advertising Widget Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

  1. Advertisement name.
  2. Ad view / click statistics. Blue line represents number of views and while red represents number of clicks.
  3. Advertisement link: Link where advertisement is pointing. You should enter full URL (http://www.example.com).
  4. Custom banner code. Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  5. Once you click update/publish, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.
  6. Featured image will be used as advertisement image.

Theme Customization

Goodz Magazine theme is minimal and light theme. However, this doesn’t mean that theme can not be customized. Theme can be modified from the Customizer. From your site’s dashboard go to Appearance → Customize. Here you can easily set:

Theme Options

Blog Layout Settings

Goodz Magazine theme can be set to display archives page in full width or as grid. To change layout settings, go to Appearance → Customize. In Customizer select Theme Options → Layout Settings option. Here you can set Archive Pages Layout to display posts in boxed manner or full width. Boxed layout will display posts in three columns, centered in 1240px wide area. You can set the Archives page to always display posts in two columns, instead of a fluid number of columns.
Single post page also can be set to display content in boxed or in full width mode.

Header Settings

Header Settings allow you to set sticky header. This way header with custom menu and site logo will be always visible. To enable sticky header, go to Appearance → Customize → Header Settings. Check Enable Sticky Header option, and press Save&Publish button in order to save the changes.

Featured Slider

Featured slider is great way to promote your posts. Slider uses featured images from posts. Setting slider is pretty simple. Prerequisite is to have several posts with featured images, tagged with same tags.
From dashboard navigate to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content. Enter desired tags, and press Save&Publish button in order to save the changes. If you leave this field empty, or delete existing tags, slider will not be displayed.
To display slider in full width, go to to Appearance → Customize → Theme Options → Featured Slider. Check Enable fullwidth check box, and press Save&Publish button in order to populate the changes.
Theme will display slider without left and right margins, while slider width is depending if home archives page is set to display as full width or boxed.

Post Formats

Goodz Magazine theme supports all post formats: Standard, Aside, Image, Video, Quote, Link, Gallery, Status, Audio, and Chat.

Quote Post Format

To create a quote, first choose the Quote post format. Next, select your desired text in the Visual Editor and apply Blockquote formatting to it. To cite the author of a quote, write their name below the quote text. Switch to the Text Editor and add <cite></cite> around the author’s name. See Quote post format example.

Link Post Format

To create a link post, first select the Link post format. After adding your link text, link it to the desired URL. To add the link source or title, add <cite></cite> around the source or title name. See Link post format example.

Widgets

Goodz Magazine has a right-hand widget area, displayed on single post pages and pages. There are also three widget ares in the footer, which is always present. Widgets can be configured under Appearance → Widgets. If no widgets are assigned to the Sidebar, content will display at full width.

Goodz Magazine is WordPress blog/magazine theme, but it’s also great as portfolio theme. Modern, minimalistic design, without clutter, will put visual content in the first place. It is ideal for blogs/magazines from which the inspiration came from, with content related to photography, graphic design, fashion, art, architecture, interior design and other creative fields. Goodz Magazine. can also be used for other purposes, such as an agency or personal portfolio.

Installing WordPress

WordPress is well-known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances, installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less then five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you. However, we strongly recommend that you install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help http://codex.WordPress.org/Installing_WordPress.

Theme Installation

Theme can be installed in two different ways:

  • Installing through WordPress
  • The Traditional installation using FTP client

Installing through WordPress

Installing a theme through WordPress is quite easy and it will take only few minutes of your time. Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Appearance -> Themes. Click on Add New button, and then Upload from the navigation bar right below it. Click on Choose File button, and browse your computer for goodzmagazine.zip file and click Install Now. After installation is complete, click on Activate link.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for goodzmagazine.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded.

The Traditional installation using FTP client

First things first, you will need an FTP client (example FileZilla which is free, easy to use and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux) to access your web host server. Now that you have access to your WordPress installation files simply transfer your unzipped theme to your server in the ..wp-content/themes/. The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Themes, search for Goodz Magazine and click Activate link right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for goodzmagazine.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded. For more detailed explanation on how to install themes, visit this link.

First Steps After Theme Activation

Goodz Magazine theme uses latest post reading setting. Of course, you can set theme to display desired static page, instead of posts, but you will also need to create posts page.

Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Settings -> Reading. Set Front page displays option to Your latest posts. Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Pages – > Add New. Create new page – enter title (e.g. Home). Click on Publish button in order to populate page. Now create another new page (e.g. Blog), with Default page template, using the same method.
When you are done, go to Settings -> Reading. and set the theme to display static page. Then select previously create pages – for Front page select your desired page (e.g. Home), and for Posts page select your page with Default page template (e.g. Blog) . The page you select for your Post page will display all blog posts.
Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks, we strongly suggest the use of pretty permalinks. Go to Setting -> Permalinks and select Post name.

Installing suggested plugins

Goodz Magazine theme comes with extra plugins. After theme activation, you will be prompted to install and/or activate those plugins.

Flickr Badges Widget

Flickr Badges Widget plugin allows you to display your Flickr photos in the sidebar. After activating the plugin an new widget called Wolf Flickr will be available in Appearance -> Widgets. Here you can set widget options – enter Flickr username, title, text and number of photos.

TK Shortcodes

TK Shortcodes plugin will add awesome shortcodes to your theme. With them you can enrich your content and create different content layouts. Learn more about Themes Kingdom Shortcodes.

TK Social Share

TK Social Share plugin adds social share component to Goodz Magazine theme. After plugin installation, and activation, new option TK Social Share will appear in admin panel sidebar. TK Social Share plugin settings:

  1. General Settings: Her you can set turn on or off where social share plugin will appear – on posts, pages and on archive page.
  2. Social Settings: Easily add or remove desired sharing services. Simply drag and drop desired social networks sharing to enabled services.
  3. Display Settings: Display settings panel allows you to customize position of sharing buttons, and to select style for your sharing buttons.
TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

Tiled Galleries Carousel Without Jetpack

This plugin adds additional Tiled Gallery option into WordPress Gallery feature. To insert Tiled Gallery, click on Add Media button above page/post visual editor. Click on Create Gallery, and then click on desired images which you wish to include in the gallery. Click on Create a new gallery. In Gallery Settings select Tiled Mosaic for Type, and click on Insert gallery. This will insert gallery into your page. Please note that gallery in visual editor looks different than gallery on the front end.

Widget Visibility

Instead of dealing with different sidebar areas and setting same widgets for different pages or posts, this plugin allows you to set visibility for each widget. This means that you can set which widget will appear on what page and/or post.
In Appearance -> Widgets you will find that each widget now have additional button Visibility. Read more in Widgets section.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like Goodz Magazine demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

The Customizer

Site Identity

Site Identity allows you to set your site title, tagline and icon. Site title is the name of your site and it’s displayed in the header, where logo is displayed. Tagline is short description, or your motto, and it’s displayed just under the title. This setting is the same as in Settings -> General in WordPress admin panel.

  1. Site title: Name of your site.
  2. Tagline: Site punchline.
  3. Site Icon: The Site Icon is used as a browser and app icon for your site. Icons must be square, and at least 512px wide and tall.

Colors

Colors panel allows you to set color for some elements in the theme.

  1. Background Color: Changes color of background on the content area.
  2. Headings Color: Color for text headings.
  3. Navigation Color: Color of menus in the theme.
  4. Header Bg Color: Header background color.
  5. Paragraph / Text Color: Color of text on the site. This will apply only to text in posts and pages.
  6. Link Color: Unvisited link color.
  7. Logo Color: Color of your logo. This will only apply if you are using text instead of image file for logo.
  8. Footer Bg Color: Footer background color.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to upload image that will be used as background image instead of solid color.

  1. Background Image: Upload your background image. JPG, PNG and GIF formats are supported.
  2. Background Repeat: If you are using large, one piece image, then you should set No Repeat option. However if you plan to use smaller, repeating pattern, then you should select:
    1. Tile: Image will be repeated by default, starting from top left corner.
    2. Tile Horizontally: Image will be repeated horizontally, starting from top left corner.
    3. Tile Vertically: Image will be repeated vertically, starting from top left corner.
  3. Background Position: Defines where and how background should be placed. You should use Center if you are using large, one piece background.
  4. Background Attachment: Defines if background image will have fixed position, and always visible to the user, or it will scroll as user scrolls through the site.

This option allows you to quick manage created menus. You can select which created menu will be displayed as Primary Menu or Social Menu. If you need to manage actual menu items, you can do that in Appearance -> Menu.

Widgets

Widgets section allows you to quickly manage widgets in widget areas. This option allows you the same possibility as Widgets option in WordPress admin panel.

Static Front Page

This option works the same way as Settings -> Reading. It allows you to set them to read latest post or to use static pages for landing and blog page.

Here you can set your site logo. You can set standard and retina logo. Logo can be in JPG, PNG and GIF format, up to 500KB.
Please note that site title and logo can not be displayed at the same time – if you set them both, logo will be displayed.

  1. Site logo: Logo image for your site. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB.
  2. Retina logo: Logo variant for Retina displays (iPhone). It should be in SVG.

Layout Settings

In Layout Settings panel you can set archives and single post layout, and set pagination or infinite scroll on your archives pages.

  1. Choose Archive Pages Layout: Archive page can be boxed or full width. Boxed will be limited to 810px width. Full width will follow the screen width.
  2. Display Posts in Two Columns: Posts will be always displayed in two columns on archive page.
  3. Choose Single Page / Post: Single Page / Post page can be boxed or full width. Boxed will be limited to 1140 width. Full width will follow the screen width.
  4. Choose Archive Paging Type: Archive page can use standard pagination or infinite scroll.
  5. Choose infinite load type: If you have selected Infinite scroll for archive page, you can set

Header Settings

Header Settings allows you to make header sticky. Sticky header will be always visible on the website.

Featured Slider

Featured slider is great way to promote your posts. Slider will appear only on homepage, and it will display featured images from posts that are associated with desired category.

  1. Check to enable Featured Slider: Check this box in order to enable featured slider.
  2. Select Category: Posts category from which featured images will be displayed.
  3. Enable fullwidth: Check this option to make slider full-width. Otherwise, slider will be displayed in boxed mode.
  4. Select Posts Number: Number of posts that will appear in the slider. First will be displayed newer posts.

Contact Page Settings

In Contact Page Settings you can manage map settings that will be displayed on page with Contact page template, set contact form email address, and to turn on or off contact form and Captcha code.

  1. Display contact page map: Checking this option will display map on the contact page.
  2. Display contact form captcha: Checking this option will enable Captcha code on the contact page.
  3. Display contact form: Checking this option will display contact form on the contact page.
  4. Contact Email address: Email where messages submitted through contact form will be sent.
  5. Map Color: Custom color which is used to highlight map.
  6. Map X coordinate and Map Y coordinate: Desired location longitude and latitude. You can get map coordinates here: http://www.mapcoordinates.net/en
  7. Map Zoom Factor: Default level of Zoom. Maximum value is 21, minimal value 1. For best visibility recommended value is 16.
  8. Map Marker Title: Text that you wish to appear on map marker info bubble. If empty, info bubble will not be displayed.
  9. Map Type: Select map type to display. Hybrid(combination of satellite and roadmap), Roadmap, Satellite and Terrain map types are available.

Goodz Magazine theme comes with one default menu location – primary menu.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
  5. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  6. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.

Goodz Magazine theme have three widget areas – default sidebar, and three footer widget areas.

Widgets Visibility

If you have installed Widget Visibility plugin that is bundled with the theme, you will be able to set widget visibility depending from post or page. Visibility works in simple if or if not logic. This means that you can set widget to be visible if some condition is, or if it’s not matched. Widget visibility options will be displayed as part of the widget.

Example 1:
Show widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Show only, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed only on contact page.

Example 2:
Hide widget only on contact page: Select from dropdown Hide, and then from list check box near your contact page. Save changes. This way widget will be hidden only on contact page.

Custom widgets

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

  1. Select Ad: Select ad you want to show.
  2. Ad size: Ads can be shown in “fullwidth” or “halfwidth”. Size is calculated based on widget area width.
  3. Bottom margin: Spacing between bottom of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
  4. Top margin: Spacing between top of the ad and the next widget. Value is in pixels.
Flickr Badges

Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Flickr Badges Widget plugin.

  1. Title: Insert widget title.
  2. Type: The type of images from user or group.
  3. Insert Flickr ID: Instructions how to get Flickr ID: http://zourbuth.com/tools/flickr-nsid/ .
  4. Number: Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget.
  5. Display Method: You can set widget to display latest or random images.
  6. Sizes: Set size for displayed images. It can be standard, thumbnail and medium.
  7. Show Copyright: Show widget copyright with link on the front page.
  8. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.
Instagram feed widget

Instagram feed widget will display images from desired Instagram account.

  1. Title: Title for your Instagram feed widgets.
  2. Username: Instagram username from which will be displayed images.
  3. Number of photos: Number of photos that will be displayed in the feed.
  4. Open links in: Where links will be opened – in the same tab or in the new one.
  5. Link text: Text that will appear for Instagram profile link.

Posts

Goodz Magazine theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Gallery, Video, Quote and Link.

    3. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.

    5. Category: Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    6. Tags: Tags are words that allows you to organize posts by similar content.
    7. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Gallery post format

Gallery post format allows you to set several images which will be displayed as slideshow on the single post page. After selection Gallery format, additional Gallery Fields will be displayed. You can add additional Gallery images fileds, so you can upload desired images. Featured image will be used as cover image on the front page, while additional images will be displayed as slideshow on single post page.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. “Sticky” posts are displayed twice the size than normal posts, and they are always displayed at the top of other posts.

To create “sticky” post, login into WordPress admin panel and go to Posts -> All Posts. Find post that you wish to make “sticky”, and click on Quick Edit link under it. Check “Make this post sticky” box, and click Update button to save changes.

Pages

Pages are for content such as About, Contact, etc. Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information about yourself or your site — information that is always applicable. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content.

Goodz Magazine theme uses two different page templates to display different information. Included page templates: Default Templates and Contact Us.

  • Default Template – Default Template is multipurpose page template, without any special property.
  • Contact Us – Contact Us page template is used to display map and contact form. Primary is used to display contact information. If you need to set custom email address where email will be sent, you can do that in The Customizer -> Contact.

Advertising

Advertising post type allows you to create ads that will be displayed in Advertising Widget. This widget can be placed in footer, custom sidebar or default sidebar. In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Advertising Widget Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

  1. Advertisement name.
  2. Ad view / click statistics. Blue line represents number of views and while red represents number of clicks.
  3. Advertisement link: Link where advertisement is pointing. You should enter full URL (http://www.example.com).
  4. Custom banner code. Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  5. Once you click update/publish, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.
  6. Featured image will be used as advertisement image.

Advertising Plugin

Themes Kingdom Advertising Plugin adds custom post type Advertising to your theme. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Created ads can be displayed using Advertising widget

Advertising post type is available in admin side panel.

Creating advertisement

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Advertising -> Add New.

  1. Advertisement title: Name for your ad. This name will be used to identify your ad.
  2. Advertisement chart: Chart that will display performance of your ad. Blue is used for number of views, while red is used to display number of clicks.
  3. Advertisement Link: Link where your add will lead. Please note that you do not need to set this if you are using Custom Banner Code.
  4. Custom Banner Code: Here you can paste custom code for the banner – for example, from Google Ads. You can also create custom HTML or JavaScript code and paste it here.
  5. Publish/ Update: Once you click Publish/ Update, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.
  6. Featured Image: You will need to set Featured image, which will be used to display ad. Image dimensions should be 125x125px.

Using Advertising Widget

Advertising Widget is used to display created ads. You can add multiple Advertising Widgets to desired widget areas, in order to display different ads.

  1. Select Ad: Dropdown will display all published advertisements. Select ad you want to display.
  2. Ad Width: Ads can be shown in fullwidth or halfwidth, related to widget width.
  3. Bottom margin: You can add custom spacing below the advertising widget.

Huntt

Huntt is WordPress blog/magazine theme, but it’s also great as portfolio theme. Modern, minimalistic design, without clutter, will put visual content in the first place. It is ideal for blogs/magazines from which the inspiration came from, with content related to photography, graphic design, fashion, art, architecture, interior design and other creative fields. Huntt. can also be used for other purposes, such as an agency or personal portfolio.

Installing WordPress

WordPress is well-known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances, installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less then five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you. However, we strongly recommend that you install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help http://codex.WordPress.org/Installing_WordPress.

Theme Installation

Theme can be installed in two different ways:

  • Installing through WordPress
  • The Traditional installation using FTP client

Installing through WordPress

Installing a theme through WordPress is quite easy and it will take only few minutes of your time. Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Appearance -> Themes. Click on Add New button, and then Upload from the navigation bar right below it. Click on Choose File button, and browse your computer for huntt.zip file and click Install Now. After installation is complete, click on Activate link.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for huntt.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded.

The Traditional installation using FTP client

First things first, you will need an FTP client (example FileZilla which is free, easy to use and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux) to access your web host server. Now that you have access to your WordPress installation files simply transfer your unzipped theme to your server in the ..wp-content/themes/. The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Themes, search for Huntt and click Activate link right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for huntt.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded. For more detailed explanation on how to install themes, visit this link.

First Steps After Theme Activation

Huntt theme uses latest post reading setting. Of course, you can set theme to display desired static page, instead of posts, but you will also need to create posts page.

Login into WordPress admin panel, and go to Settings -> Reading.  Set Front page displays option to Your latest posts. Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Pages – > Add New. Create new page – enter title (e.g. Home). Click on Publish button in order to populate page. Now create another new page (e.g. Blog), with Default page template, using the same method.
When you are done, go to Settings -> Reading. and set the theme to display static page. Then select previously create pages – for Front page select your desired page (e.g. Home), and for Posts page select your page with Default page template (e.g. Blog) . The page you select for your Post page will display all blog posts.
Press Save Changes button in order to populate changes.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks, we strongly suggest the use of pretty permalinks. Go to Setting -> Permalinks and select Post name.

Installing suggested plugins

Huntt theme comes with extra plugins. After theme activation, you will be prompted to install and/or activate those plugins.

JP Widget Visibilit plugin

Instead of dealing with different sidebar areas and setting same widgets for different pages or posts, this plugin allows you to set visibility for each widget. This means that you can set which widget will appear on what page and/or post.
In Appearance -> Widgets you will find that each widget now have additional button Visibility. Read more in Widgets section.

TK Shortcodes

TK Shortcodes plugin will add awesome shortcodes to your theme. With them you can enrich your content and create different content layouts. Learn more about Themes Kingdom Shortcodes.

TK Social Share

TK Social Share plugin adds social share component to Huntt theme. After plugin installation, and activation, new option TK Social Share will appear in admin panel sidebar. TK Social Share plugin settings:

  1. General Settings: Her you can set turn on or off where social share plugin will appear – on posts, pages and on archive page.
  2. Social Settings: Easily add or remove desired sharing services. Simply drag and drop desired social networks sharing to enabled services.
  3. Display Settings: Display settings panel allows you to customize position of sharing buttons, and to select style for your sharing buttons.
TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

Tiled Galleries Carousel Without Jetpack

This plugin adds additional Tiled Gallery option into WordPress Gallery feature. To insert Tiled Gallery, click on Add Media button above page/post visual editor. Click on Create Gallery, and then click on desired images which you wish to include in the gallery. Click on Create a new gallery. In Gallery Settings select Tiled Mosaic for Type, and click on Insert gallery. This will insert gallery into your page. Please note that gallery in visual editor looks different than gallery on the front end.

WP Instagram Widget

Instagram Widget plugins allows you to connect your Instagram account with this widget, and display most recent Instagram photos in the sidebar. Go to Appearance -> Widgets. Drag Instagram widget to desired footer widget area or to the sidebar. Here you can set widget options – enter Instagram username, title, number and size of posts, target window and text for follow option.

Wolf Flickr Widget


Wolf Flickr Widget plugin allows you to display your Flickr photos in the sidebar. After activating the plugin an new widget called Wolf Flickr will be available in Appearance -> Widgets. Here you can set widget options – enter Flickr username, title, text and number of photos.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above Flickr posts.
  2. Optional text: Short description about Flickr posts, account…
  3. Flickr user ID: Your Flickr user ID.
  4. Number of photos: Number of photos that will be displayed.
  5. Save button: Save your changes.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like Huntt demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

The Customizer

The Customizer is great WordPress feature which allows you to customize theme and set theme options. Customization options available in The Customizer:

Site Title and Tagline


Site title and Tagline allows you to display your site title and site tagline. Site title is the name of your site and it’s displayed in the header, where logo is displayed. Tagline is short description, or your motto, and it’s displayed just under the title.

  1. Site title: Name of your site.
  2. Site tagline: Site punchline.


Here you can set your site logo and site icon (favicon). You can set standard and retina logo. Logo can be in JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB. Favicon is site icon, and it will be displayed in browser tab, near site title. Favicon should be 16x16px in ICO format.

Please note that site title and logo can not be displayed at the same time – if you set them both, logo will be displayed.

  1. Site logo: Logo image for your site. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB.
  2. Retina logo: Logo variant for Retina displays (iPhone). It should be in SVG.
  3. Favicon: Site icon, it will be displayed in browser tab. It should be 16×16 px image in ICO format.

Theme Colors


Theme Colors panel allows you to set color for some elements in the theme.

  1. Background Color: Changes color of background on the content area.
  2. Site Title Color: Color of site title. Please note that if you are using image for logo, this change will not be visible.
  3. Site Description Color: Site tagline color.
  4. Site Info Color: Footer text color.
  5. Search icon and input text color: Color of search icon, and input field text.
  6. Social icons color: Color of icons in social navigation.
  7. Navigation Sidebar Color: Background color for navigation.
  8. Navigation Link Color: Color for menu items text.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to upload image that will be used as background image instead of solid color.

  1. Background Repeat: If you are using large, one piece image, then you should set No Repeat option. However if you plan to use smaller, repeating pattern, then you should select:
    1. Tile: Image will be repeated by default, starting from top left corner.
    2. Tile Horizontally: Image will be repeated horizontally, starting from top left corner.
    3. Tile Vertically: Image will be repeated vertically, starting from top left corner.
  2. Background Position: Defines where and how background should be placed. You should use Center if you are using large, one piece background.
  3. Background Attachment: Defines if background image will have fixed position, and always visible to the user, or it will scroll as user scrolls through the site.


This option allows you to quick manage created menus. You can select which created menu will be displayed as Primary Menu or Social Menu. If you need to manage actual menu items, you can do that in Appearance -> Menu.

Layout Settings


In Layout Settings panel you can set number of columns on posts page and enable pagination or infinite scroll.

  1. Choose number of columns to display on archives: Three or four columns. Four-columns layout will be visible only for 1900px width or higher resolutions. On smaller screens theme will automatically display content in 3 columns.
  2. Type of pagination: Page numbers or infinite scroll. Page numbers is classic pagination – on each page will be displayed number of posts that is set in Reading Settings. Infinite Scroll will load posts as you scroll to the bottom of the page.

Contact Page Settings


In Contact Page Settings you can manage map settings that will be displayed on page with Contact page template, set contact form email address, and to turn on or off contact form and Captcha code.

  1. Disable contact page map: Checking this option will hide map on the contact page.
  2. Disable contact form Captcha: Checking this option will disable Captcha code on the contact page.
  3. Disable contact form: Checking this option will hide contact map on the contact page.
  4. Contact Email address: Email where messages submitted through contact form will be sent.
  5. Map Color: Custom color which is used to highlight map.
  6. Map X coordinate and Map Y coordinate: Desired location longitude and latitude. You can get map coordinates here: http://www.mapcoordinates.net/en
  7. Map Zoom Factor: Default level of Zoom. Maximum value is 21, minimal value 1. For best visibility recommended value is 16.
  8. Map Marker Title: Text that you wish to appear on map marker info bubble. If empty, info bubble will not be displayed.
  9. Map Type: Select map type to display. Hybrid(combination of satellite and roadmap), Roadmap, Satellite and Terrain map types are available.
  10. Upload Marker Icon (80 x 90 px): Here you can upload your custom map marker icon.


Footer text section allows you to enter text that will be displayed in the footer. You can use simple HTML markup to add bold, italic, create links and such.

Static Front Page


This option works the same way as Settings -> Reading. It allows you to set them to read latest post or to use static pages for landing and blog page.

Huntt theme comes with two locations: Primary and Social.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

The Social menu automatically creates links to your social network profiles. The Social menu will be displayed in header area, after clicking on Connect link. The following social networks are supported: Behance, Dribbble, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
  5. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  6. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

Creating Social menu

To create Social menu, login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Social), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created.

Now, expand Links on the left side. Paste full URL (e.g. https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom)to your social network profile, enter Link text, and click on Add to Menu button. Repeat process for all social networks that you wish to display on your site. When you are done check option Social Menu and press Save Menu button. Icons in social menu are automatically populated.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.

Huntt theme have only one widget area – on the right side of the content area.

Widgets Visibility

If you have installed JP Widget Visibilit plugin that is bundled with the theme, you will be able to set widget visibility depending from post or page. Visibility works in simple if or if not logic. This means that you can set widget to be visible if some condition is, or if it’s not matched.

Example 1:
Show widget only on contact page: Click on Visibility button. Select Show from dropdown and select Page and Contact. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed only on Contact page.

Example 2:
Hide widget only on contact page. Click on Visibility button. Select Hide from dropdown and select Page and Contact. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed on all pages, expect on Contact page.

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

Wolf Flickr widget

Wolf Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Wolf Flickr Widget plugin.

  1. Insert widget title.
  2. Insert additional text (optional).
  3. Insert Flickr ID. Example 71865026@N00.
  4. Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget. Choose from 1 to 10.
  5. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.

Posts

Huntt theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Audio, Video, Quote and Link.

    1. Post title: Name of your post. It will be displayed on the front end.
    2. Post content: Content of your post – text, images, shortcodes and other.
    3. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
    4. Post formats: Different post formats will display content in different way. You can choose one of the following post formats:
      1. Standard
      2. Video
      3. Quote
      4. Link
    5. Category: Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    6. Tags: Tags are words that allows you to organize posts by similar content.
    7. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.
    8. Enable TK Sharing Box: You can enable and disable social sharing on single post. This panel is visible only if TK Social Share plugin is installed and activated.
    9. Discussions: You can disable and enable comments on single post. This setting will override global setting in Settings -> Discussions.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. Featured image and text will be displayed on white background.

The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Themes, search for Eveny and click Activate link right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you have downloaded. Browse for eveny.zip file inside WP directory, in the main file you have downloaded. For more detailed explanation on how to install themes, visit this link.

First Steps After Theme Activation

Setting theme reading settings

There are several things you have to do in order to have fully functional theme. Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Pages – > Add New. Create new page – enter title (e.g. Home) and select Front Page Template from Page Attributes panel. Click on Publish button in order to populate page. Now create another new page (e.g. Blog), but this time select Default as page template from Page Attributes panel.
When you are done, go to Settings -> Reading.  and set the theme to display static page. Then select previously create pages – for Front page select your page with Front Page Template (e.g. Home),  and for Posts page select your page with Default page template (e.g. Blog) .The page you select for your Post page will display all blog posts.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks, we strongly suggest the use of pretty permalinks. Go to Setting -> Permalinks and select Post name.

Eveny theme comes with extra plugins. After theme activation, you will be prompted to install and/or activate those plugins.

JP Widget Visibilit plugin

Instead of dealing with different sidebar areas and setting same widgets for different pages or posts, this plugin allows you to set visibility for each widget. This means that you can set which widget will appear on what page and/or post.
In Appearance -> Widgets you will find that each widget now have additional button Visibility. Read more in Widgets section.

TK Custom Post Types

TK Custom Post Types plugin adds three new post types to your site:

Sharify Social Share Buttons

Sahrify Social Share Buttons adds social share component to your posts. Social sharing covers Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Pocket, VKontakte and email sharing option. If you have preference to use other social sharing plugin, you will not need to install this plugin.

TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

Tiled Galleries Carousel Without Jetpack

This plugin adds additional Tiled Gallery option into WordPress Gallery feature. To insert Tiled Gallery, click on Add Media button above page/post visual editor. Click on Create Gallery, and then click on desired images which you wish to include in the gallery. Click on Create a new gallery. In Gallery Settings select Tiled Mosaic for Type, and click on Insert gallery. This will insert gallery into your page. Please note that gallery in visual editor looks different than gallery on the front end.

WP Instagram Widget

Instagram Widget plugins allows you to connect your Instagram account with this widget, and display most recent Instagram photos in the sidebar. Go to Appearance -> Widgets. Drag Instagram widget to desired footer widget area or to the sidebar. Here you can set widget options – enter Instagram username, title, number and size of posts, target window and text for follow option.

Wolf Flickr widget

Wolf Flickr Widget plugin allows you to display your Flickr photos in the sidebar. After activating the plugin an new widget called Wolf Flickr will be available in Appearance -> Widgets.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like Eveny demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

The Customizer

The Customizer is great WordPress feature which allows you to customize theme and set theme options. Customization options available in The Customizer:

Site Title and Tagline


Site title and Tagline allows you to display your site title and site tagline. Site title is the name of your site and it’s displayed in the header, where logo is displayed. Tagline is short description, or your motto, and it’s displayed just under the title.

  1. Site title: Name of your site.
  2. Site tagline: Site punchline.


Here you can set your site logo and site icon (favicon). You can set standard and retina logo. Logo can be in JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB. Favicon is site icon, and it will be displayed in browser tab, near site title. Favicon should be 16x16px in ICO format.

Please note that site title and logo can not be displayed at the same time – if you set them both, logo will be displayed.

  1. Site logo: Logo image for your site. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, GIF and SVG format, up to 500KB.
  2. Retina logo: Logo variant for Retina displays (iPhone). It should be in SVG.
  3. Favicon: Site icon, it will be displayed in browser tab. It should be 16×16 px image in ICO format.

Theme Colors

Theme Colors
Theme Colors panel allows you to set color for some elements in the theme.

  1. Header Text Color: Color of site Tagline displayed under Site Title.
  2. Background Color: Changes color of background on the whole site.
  3. Main Theme Color: This color will be used on some elements – hover state for links, hover for Tagline, buttons and such.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to upload image that will be used as background image instead of solid color.

  1. Background Repeat: If you are using large, one piece image, then you should set No Repeat option. However if you plan to use smaller, repeating pattern, then you should select:
    1. Tile: Image will be repeated by default, starting from top left corner.
    2. Tile Horizontally: Image will be repeated horizontally, starting from top left corner.
    3. Tile Vertically: Image will be repeated vertically, starting from top left corner.
  2. Background Position: Defines where and how background should be placed. You should use Center if you are using large, one piece background.
  3. Background Attachment: Defines if background image will have fixed position, and always visible to the user, or it will scroll as user scrolls through the site.


This option allows you to quick manage created menus. You can select which created menu will be displayed as Primary Menu or Social Menu. If you need to manage actual menu items, you can do that in Appearance -> Menu.

Widgets

Widgets
In Widgets option panel you can set what widgets will be displayed in the three footer widget areas. After clicking on Add a Widget button, list of available Widgets will be displayed. Widgets visibility for other pages can be managed Appearance -> Widgets.

Front Page Options

Front Page Options section allows you to manage homepage options – custom headers, sections and sections order. Available options are:

Custom Header Settings

Custom header is used to display larger image in the header, with description and button. This image can be used to promote your events or albums. In this option you can enable or disable custom header. If this option is enabled, custom header will be used.

Custom Header Image

Here you can upload your custom header image. Header image should be at least 1920x1024px. Custom Header Image will be always displayed full-screen together with the site navigation. Even if you check your site on the phone, header image will be displayed full screen, together with the navigation. This way you will draw users attention to your promotion.

Custom Header Content

In this area you can set content that will be displayed in the header area.

  1. Custom Header Title: This title will be displayed in the header, over Custom Header Image.
  2. Custom Header Text: Text that will be displayed under Custom Header Title. This text should provide more information about your promotion.
  3. Custom Header Button Text: Text that will be displayed on the button.
  4. Custom Header Button Link: Link that will be used on header button.
Sections Order Settings

Sections Order Settings

Homepage is separated into four sections. In each section you can set what content will be displayed in what section. In each section you can display Albums, Events, News, Gallery slider, or content from desired page.

Events Section Settings

In Events Section Settings you can select Events Category which will be displayed, section title and text, and to set button text and button URL. If URL is empty, button will lead to page with Events page template. If custom URL is set, button will lead to entered URL.

  1. Events Category: You can select desired events category that will be displayed on the homepage.
  2. Events section title: Custom title that will be displayed above events section.
  3. Events section text: Short description that will be displayed before list of events.
  4. Events section button: Button text for events section.
  5. Events section button URL: Link where events section button will lead.
News Section Settings

In News Section Settings you can select News Category which will be displayed, section title and text, and to set button text.

In Gallery Section Settings you can select Gallery Category which will be displayed, section title and text, and to set button text.

Page Section Settings

In this section you can set colors for each section on the homepage. You can customize colors for:

Static Front Page

This option works the same way as Settings -> Reading. It allows you to set them to read latest post or to use static pages for landing and blog page.

Archives Layout Settings

Here you can set look of your Archives page. Default will display posts in Archives page in single column, while Grid will display posts in two column grid.

Contact Page Settings


In Contact Page Settings you can manage map settings that will be displayed on page with Contact page template, set contact form email address, and to turn on or off contact form and Captcha code.

  1. Disable contact page map: Checking this option will hide map on the contact page.
  2. Disable contact form Captcha: Checking this option will disable Captcha code on the contact page.
  3. Disable contact form: Checking this option will hide contact map on the contact page.
  4. Contact Email address: Email where messages submitted through contact form will be sent.
  5. Map Color: Custom color which is used to highlight map.
  6. Map X coordinate and Map Y coordinate: Desired location longitude and latitude. You can get map coordinates here: http://www.mapcoordinates.net/en
  7. Map Zoom Factor: Default level of Zoom. Maximum value is 21, minimal value 1. For best visibility recommended value is 16.
  8. Map Marker Title: Text that you wish to appear on map marker info bubble. If empty, info bubble will not be displayed.
  9. Map Type: Select map type to display. Hybrid(combination of satellite and roadmap), Roadmap, Satellite and Terrain map types are available.
  10. Upload Marker Icon (80 x 90 px): Here you can upload your custom map marker icon.

Eveny theme comes with two locations: Primary and Social.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

The Social menu automatically creates links to your social network profiles. The Social menu will be displayed in header area, after clicking on Connect link. The following social networks are supported:Amazon, Behance, Deezer, Dribbble, Facebook, Google Plus, GrooveShark, Instagram, iTunes, last.fm, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Rdio, SoundCloud, Spotify, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube.

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. Don’t forget to save changes after adding any of the elements, to do that click on the “Save Menu” button.
  5. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
    1. Navigational Label This field represents title of menu item that the visitors of your site will see.
    2. Title Attribute is an alternative text. This text will be displayed when you mouse over this menu item.
    3. To delete menu item, click on Remove
  6. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  7. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

Creating Social menu

To create Social menu, login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Social), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created.

Now, expand Links on the left side. Paste full URL (e.g. https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom)to your social network profile, enter Link text, and click on Add to Menu button. Repeat process for all social networks that you wish to display on your site. When you are done check option Social Menu and press Save Menu button. Icons in social menu are automatically populated.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.
  4. When you are done with customization click on the Save button to save the changes.

Widgets Visibility

If you have installed JP Widget Visibilit plugin that is bundled with the theme, you will be able to set widget visibility depending from post or page. Visibility works in simple if or if not logic. This means that you can set widget to be visible if some condition is, or if it’s not matched.

Example 1:
Show widget only on contact page: Click on Visibility button. Select Show from dropdown and select Page and Contact. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed only on Contact page.

Example 2:
Hide widget only on contact page. Click on Visibility button. Select Hide from dropdown and select Page and Contact. Save changes. This way widget will be displayed on all pages, expect on Contact page.

Custom widgets

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

  2. Ads can be shown in “fullwidth” or “halfwidth”

Wolf Flickr widget

Wolf Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Wolf Flickr Widget plugin.

  1. Insert widget title.
  2. Insert additional text (optional).
  3. Insert Flickr ID. Example 71865026@N00.
  4. Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget. Choose from 1 to 10.
  5. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.

Posts

Eveny theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Audio, Video, Quote and Link.

Posts

    1. Post title.
    2. Post content.
    3. You can choose one of the following post formats:
      1. Standard. Standard post format.
      2. Video
      3. Quote
      4. Link
    4. Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    5. Add tags to your post.
    6. Set featured image. Featured image will be used as cover image.
    7. When you are done with customizing click on the Publish button to publish your post.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Audio post format

Audio post format allows you to easily add audio component to your post. After selecting Audio format, additional Audio Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL or HTML embed code to your audio file (e.g. SoundCloud). Player with your audio will be displayed above the post title and content.
However, if you wish to add audio file from Media Library, you should add that file using Add Media button, and including them directly into the post content.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL or HTML embed code to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.
However, if you wish to add video file from Media Library, please note that WordPress will create only link to your video.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. Featured image and text will be displayed on white background.

Pages

Pages are for content such as About, Contact, etc. Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information about yourself or your site — information that is always applicable. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content.

Eveny theme uses different page templates to display different information. Included page templates: Default Templates, Albums, Contact Us, Events, Front Page Template, Fullwidth page and Galleries.

        • Default Template – Default Template is multipurpose page template, without any special property.
        • Albums – Albums page template will display all Albums posts.
        • Contact Us – Contact Us page template is used to display map and contact form. Primary is used to display contact information. If you need to set custom email address where email will be sent, you can do that in The Customizer -> Contact.
        • Events – Events page template will display all Events posts.
        • Front Page Template – Front Page Template is used to create and display homepage sections. Homepage sections can be customized in The Customizer
        • Fullwidth page – Fullwidth page is same as Default Template, but don’t have any sidebars.
        • Galleries – Events page template will display all Events posts.

Advertising

Advertising post type allows you to create ads that will be displayed in Advertising Widget. This widget can be placed in footer, custom sidebar or default sidebar. In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Advertising Widget Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

  1. Advertisement name.
  2. Ad view / click statistics. Blue line represents number of views and while red represents number of clicks.
  3. Advertisement link: Link where advertisement is pointing. You should enter full URL (http://www.example.com).
  4. Custom banner code. Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  5. Once you click update/publish, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.
  6. Featured image will be used as advertisement image.

Albums

Albums post type allows you to create and organize your musical albums or mixes as post. In each album you can include playlist with music files. In that case you will need to upload music files into Media Library. Albums will be displayed on page with Albums page template.

To create new Album, go to Albums -> Add New.

Albums

  1. Album title: Name of your album.
  2. Album content: Description of your album. To display player with list of songs, you will need to add audio files using Add Media button. In Insert Media window you can Create Audio Playlist. After creating Audio Playlist, player with list of the songs will be added and displayed in your Album post.
  3. Album details: Here you can enter artist name, or any other additional detail about the album post.
  4. Discussions: You can disable and enable comments on single post. This setting will override global setting in Settings -> Discussions.
  5. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
  6. Featured Image: Featured Image will be used as album cover image.

Events

Events post type are used to display information about your events – concerts, album promotions, parties and everything else. Events posts will be displayed on page with Events template. On Events page you can filter events by their categories.

To create new Event, go to Events -> Add New.

Events

  1. Event title: Name of your event. E.g. Disco Night.
  2. Event description: Additional details for your event.
  3. Event details:
    1. Disable Directions display: If you check this option, Directions button on the front end for single event will be disabled. You should use this feature if event location is not precisely defined – e.g. Earth Day 2015, location everywhere.
    2. Event location: Full address of event. If correct address is entered, and Directions are enabled, users will be able to get Google Map directions to your event.
    3. Sold Out button: Checking this option Sold Out will be displayed over event image on Events page, and on Event single page.
    4. Buy tickets link: URL to Internet location where users can purchase tickets.
  4. Discussions: You can disable and enable comments on single post. This setting will override global setting in Settings -> Discussions.
  5. Event start date and time: When event starts. This information will be displayed on the front page.
  6. Event end date and time: When event ends. This information will be displayed on the front page.
  7. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
  8. Event format: Depending from format, you can use video format to promote your event, or static image. If video is selected, additional field will be displayed where you can paste URL or embed code for your video.
  9. Event Categories – You can create various post categories in order to better group and organize your events.
  10. Event featured image: Image that will be used as cover image for desired event.

Events can be easily rearranged using drag&drop method. To rearrange events in desired order go to Evnts -> All Events. Place your mouse cursor over event that you wish to move. Cursor arrow will turn into four-way arrow. Drag up or down your event. Please note that this will not change event publish date, but it will change events display order on Events page and on homepage.

In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Custom Post Types Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

Gallery post type allows you to add items that will be shown in page that is using Gallery page template. Gallery items will be displayed in a four column grid. To create new gallery item go to Gallery -> Add New in WordPress admin panel.

  2. Gallery item content: Will be visible only in single gallery.
  3. Discussions: You can disable and enable comments on single post. This setting will override global setting in Settings -> Discussions.
  4. Gallery Format: Gallery format allows you to set gallery to display image or video. If you set gallery format to Video, additional field for Video URL will be displayed.
  5. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
  6. Gallery Categories: Gallery items can be associated to categories, which will allow users to filter images by category on “Gallery” page.
  7. When using standard format images must be set as featured image in order to appear on page with “Gallery” template

Installing through WordPress

Installing a theme through WordPress is quite easy and it will take only few minutes of your time. First thing you need to do is to access your wordpress admin panel, after you’re done with that navigate to Appearance / Themes. Click on the Install Themes tab and then Upload from the navigational bar right below it. After that, go to the Choose File button, find spooner.zip and click Install Now. Spooner theme is now successfully installed, all you have to do now is to activate it.


Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not upload the whole file you downloaded, make sure that you locate spooner.zip file inside the main file you have downloaded.

The Traditional installation using FTP client

First things first, you will need an FTP client (example FileZilla which is free, easy to use and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux) to access your web host server. Now that you have access to your wordpress installation files simply transfer your unzipped theme to your server in the ..wp-content/themes/. The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your wordpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance / Themes, search for Spooner and click “Activate” right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Themeforest: Please do not transfer the whole file you downloaded, make sure that you locate spooner.zip file inside the main file you have downloaded.

First Steps

There are several things you have to do in order to have fully functional theme.
Access your wordpress admin panel and go to Pages / Add New. Here you will create your Home and Blog pages. We will talk more about creating pages in Pages section.

After that, go to Settings / Reading and set the theme to display static page. Then select “Home” page to be displayed as your Front page and “Blog” page as your Post page. The page you select for your Post page will display all blog posts.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks, we strongly suggest the use of pretty permalinks. Go to Setting / Permalinks and under Common Settings set “Post name”.

When you are done with setting permalinks, Go to Pages / Add New and create pages with templates you wish to use.

Included plugins

This theme includes several plugins. Once you activate the theme you will see notification in your WordPress admin panel offering you to install required and recommended plugins.

You can proceed with installing the plugins by clicking on the “Begin installing plugins” link. Each of the plugins allows you to use different options in the theme. Spooner includes the following plugins:

TK Custom Post Types

TK Custom Post Types allows you to add three different custom post types to the theme. We will talk more about each of the custom post types later in their own sections.

ThemesKingdom Shortcodes

Shortcodes can be inserted into the page/post content. They are a great way to enhance post content or to outline important things.

In this theme you can use the following shortcodes:

Rows

Rows are used as wrapper for columns. Each column must start and end with row shortcode.

Columns

Columns allows you to create text content in magazine-like style. Important: Column shortcode must start and end with row shortcode. Example: [row][one_half] Column content [/one_half][/row]. Columns can be one half, one third and one fourth of the content area width.

  1. Column type. Select the type of the column. You can choose between one half, one third, one fourth and one sixth.
  2. Column content. Text that will be displayed in column.
  3. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Buttons

Buttons can lead to internal or external links. Buttons have its own link, caption (Text) and style. Style affects button color, size and URL target (same or new window).

  2. Where to open link. Select to open link in the same or in new window.
  3. Download Button. Select yes if you want this button to download content instead of open a link.
  4. Button Style. Select color of the button.
  5. Button Size. Select size of the button. You can choose between default, large, small and mini.
  6. Button text. Text that will be displayed on the button.
  7. Preview of the button.
  8. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Toggle content

Toggle content allows you to insert content that will hidden on page load. Readers can expand and collapse this content on the page. Toggle content is a great way to display facts, statistics and any other content that might not be interesting to all readers.

Tabbed content

Tabbed content allows you to display content in tabs.

Accordion content

Accordion content allows you to display content in specific order. By default first tab will be expanded while the others will be collapsed.

  4. Opacity. Select accordion opacity, you can choose from 0-100 % where 0 is completely transparent.

  8. Add another accordion tab.
  9. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Dropcap

Dropcap is a large initial letter that drops below the first line of a paragraph, usually used at the beginning of a section or chapter of a book.

  1. Type of dropcap. Choose dropcap with or without background.
  2. Insert letter that will be used as dropcap.
  3. Preview of the dropcap.
  4. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Infobox

Infobox allows you to insert box with custom font and background color. Infobox is a great way to highlight important information.

  1. Message box style. Select the type of the message box. Choose between error, success, warning and information message.
  2. Insert text of the infobox.
  3. Preview of the infobox.
  4. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Progress bar

Progress bar allows you to visualize the progression of an operation. Values are in percentages and between 0 and 100.

  2. Insert progress bar text.
  3. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Pricing table

Pricing Table allows you to create table with price list. Price table can be full width, half width, one third or one fourth width. Pricing table can have different background and font color. You can also add price rows and button to it.

  3. Table subtitle. Pricing table subtitle.
  4. Background color. Pricing table background color.
  5. Text color. Pricing table text color.

  7. Button URL. Insert button URL.
  8. Button style. Select color of the button.
  9. Button text. Text that will be displayed on the button.
  10. Price row text. Text that is aligned to the left in price row.
  11. Price row price. Text that is aligned to the right in price row.
  12. Price row link. Add a link to price row text.
  13. Remove price row.
  14. Add more. Add another price row.
  15. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Icons

Icons allows you to add a lot of different icons. They can be displayed in six different sizes. Also icons can have custom URL.

  1. Select icon.
  2. Icon size (required). Select size of the icon. Choose between tiny, extra small, small, medium, large and extra large. Icon size has to be selected, otherwise icon will not be inserted.
  3. Icon URL. Add custom URL to your icon.
  4. When you are done with editing shortcode click on the insert shortcode button to insert it into content.


Restaurant Reservations

This plugin adds a simple booking system to the theme. It allows you to accept restaurant reservations and table bookings online, quickly confirm or reject bookings, send email notifications, set booking times and more. Once you install and activate the plugin Booking tab will appear in your WordPress admin panel with additional options. You can check plugin author quick guide by going to Plugins / Installed Plugins and clicking on the help link in Restaurant Reservations plugin.

TK Advertising Widget

TK Advertising Widget plugin adds Advertising custom post type to your admin which allows you to add advertising widget to your sidebars. We will talk more about how you can add new ads in Advertising section.

TK Custom Sidebars

TK Custom Sidebars plugin adds Custom Sidebars custom post type to your admin which allows you to add new sidebars which you can use to in Appearance / Widgets. We will talk more about adding sidebars in Custom Sidebars section.

Wolf Flickr Widget

Wolf Flickr Widget plugin allows you to display your Flickr photos in the sidebar. After activating the plugin an new widget called Wolf Flickr will be available in Appearance / Widgets.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like our Demo version all you have to do is import demo content. Downloading XML file is quite easy, just follow this link to your account on Themes Kingdom website and click on the “XML” icon to download demo files.

Here is a step by step explanation on how to import demo content:

  1. Login into your wordpress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools / Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the “Choose File” button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance / Menus and under the Menu Settings in the bottom of the page check “Primary Menu”, then click Save Menu button to save changes (We will talk more about menus in the next chapter).

Customize

Customize allows you to add header background and background images, insert text for header and footer infobox, choose sidebars for archive, search and 404 pages and organize your front page sections. To make changes please navigate to Appearance / Customize in your WordPress admin panel and you will see the following sections:


Header Image

Header Image allows you to add image that will be displayed in the front page header behind the header infobox and navigation.

Background Image

Background Image allows you to add image that will be displayed as a background image on all pages. Note that in order to use this option you will have to use home page header image so background image can be displayed properly on home page.

  2. Select image from previously uploaded images.
  3. Remove currently selected image.
  4. Select background repeat. Note that this option will be available only when image is already selected.
  5. Select background position. You can align the image to left, right or center. Note that this option will be available only when image is already selected.
  6. Select background attachment. Choose between fixed and scroll. Fixed image will always have the same position while scroll image will move with the screen when you scroll up or down. Note that this option will be available only when image is already selected.
  7. When done customizing the theme don’t forget to save your progress by clicking on the “Save & Publish” button.


Theme Colors

Theme colors allows you to change various colors in the theme.

Sidebar Options

Sidebar Options allows you to select sidebar position and sidebars that will be displayed on archive, search and 404 pages.

Front Page Sections

Front Page Sections allows you to organize your front page (Note that you have to use Front page template in order for this section to work). You can choose the order of appearance of the four sections or choose to disable any of them, insert section titles and subtitles.

This is the place where you create menus. Like many other themes, this one uses wordpress built in menus feature. To find it login into your wordpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance / Menus. In the following screenshot you will find instructions how to create navigation for your website.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on “Add to menu” button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. Don’t forget to save changes after adding any of the elements, to do that click on the “Save Menu” button.
  5. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
    • Navigational Label This field represents title of menu item that the visitors of your site will see.
    • Title Attribute is an alternative text. This text will be displayed when you mouse over this menu item.
    • To delete menu item, click on Remove
  6. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  7. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.


Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default wordpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

  1. Login into your wordpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance / Widgets.
  2. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  3. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  4. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.
  5. When you are done with customisation click on the “Save” button to save the changes.

There will be a case that you need a specific widget area for single page or blog post. Spooner theme has included plugin that will allow you to create as much widget areas as you like. You can find more information how to use custom widget areas in Custom Sidebars section.

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

Wolf Flickr widget

Wolf Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Wolf Flickr Widget plugin.

  2. Insert additional text (optional).
  3. Insert Flickr ID. Example 71865026@N00.
  4. Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget. Choose from 1 to 10.
  5. Save widget settings.
Facebook widget

Facebook widget allows you to place URL to your Facebook page. After you add Facebook page URL, Facebook like box will appear in desired widget area. Make sure that you are using your page full URL (example https://www.facebook.com/themeskingdom).

Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. You can choose between the two:

  • MadMimi will require your unique number which you can get here https://madmimi.com/signups. After you sign up and create a webform click on “Share” button to see it.

  • MailChimp requires API key and API lists. MailChimp API key can be generated here http://admin.mailchimp.com/account/api/


  • chimpapi

    and MailChimp API list is available here http://admin.mailchimp.com/lists/. After you sign up, go to Lists tab, select desired list (or create one if you don’t already have it) and go to Settings / List Name & Defaults to see it.

Twitter Stream widget

Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key. To insert username and API key login to your wordpress admin panel and navigate to Spooner / Social. You can find all the instructions how to setup twitter here.

Theme Settings

Spooner theme has custom settings admin panel which allows you to customize the theme and set different features to it. Login into your wordpress admin panel and navigate to Spooner and you will see four different tabs:


Here we will explain each of the tabs and all their features.

General Options

General options allows you to set header logo, favicon and Google analytic code.

  1. Favicon. Website icon, ICO file, dimensions: 16×16.
  2. Header logo: JPEG, GIF or PNG image, recommended up to 500KB.
  3. Header Retina logo: JPEG, GIF or PNG image, recommended up to 500KB. Upload double size logo image for retina displays.
  4. Google Analytic code. Your Google Analytic code. Please paste whole code here.


Gallery and Menu Options

Gallery and Menu Options tab allows you to customize gallery and food menu.

  1. Check this box if you don’t want each of your food menu items to have single pages.
  2. Insert number of posts you want to be displayed on page that is using “Gallery” template. Default is 6, to show all enter -1. Inserting any number will display that amount of gallery items with the “Load More” button, every click on the “Load More” button will load the same amount of gallery items.


Social

In Social tab you can set accounts for different social networks and enable or disable social share options.

  1. Google Plus Account: Enter your Google+ account (e.g. 123456789012345678901).
  2. Facebook: Enter URL to your Facebook profile (e.g. themeskingdom).
  3. Twitter: Enter your Twitter username (e.g. themeskingdom).
  4. LinkedIn: Enter URL to your LinkedIn profile (e.g. http://www.linkedin.com/company/2687325 ).
  5. Pinterest: Enter your Pinterest account (e.g. themeskingdom).
  6. Foursquare: Enter URL to your Foursquare account (e.g.http://foursquare.com/v/my-place/4ca095736).
  7. Yelp: Enter URL to your Yelp account (e.g. http://www.yelp.com/biz/my-place).
  8. Instagram: Enter URL to your Instagram account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  9. Vimeo: Enter URL to your Vimeo account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  10. Using Twitter requires having a Twitter API key. You can find all the instructions how to setup twitter here.
  11. You can enable or disable social share buttons on single blog posts.


Contact

In contact section you can change error and notification messages, change Google maps parameters and insert contact infobox text.

  1. Subject for your contact form: Email subject when you get mail from contact form.
  2. Name error message. Message that will be displayed when name is missing.
  3. E-mail error message. Message that will be displayed when email is missing or is in incorrect format
  4. Message text error message. Message that will be displayed when message text is missing.
  5. Message on successful e-mail send. Message that will be displayed when message is successfully sent.
  6. Message for error on e-mail send. General error message. This error message is related to server or connection errors.
  7. Disable Captcha on contact page. Check this box if you want to disable captcha on contact page.
  8. Remove Map. If this option is checked, Google map will not be displayed.
  9. Default Map Color. If this option is checked, map will use default Google colors for roads. Otherwise, selected color will be used.
  10. Google Map Color. Color that will be used for major roads on Google map.
  11. Google map X coordinate: Google maps latitude.
  12. Google map Y coordinate: Google maps longitude.
  13. Google map zoom factor: Zoom factor – higher value, higher zoom in. Recommended value is 16.
  14. Marker Icon: upload icon that will be displayed instead of regular map marker. Recommended dimensions are 80x90px.
  15. Marker Title: Text that will be displayed in balloon on the map marker.
  16. Google Map type: Map type. You can choose between hybrid, roadmap, terrain and satellite.
  17. Infobox box content. Text will be displayed above the “Get Directions” button, if left empty the whole get directions area will not be displayed.


Pages

Pages are for content such as “About,” “Contact,” etc. Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information about yourself or your site — information that is always applicable. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content.

  3. Select sidebar. Choose which widget area will be shown on your page. Note that this option will be available only if TK Custom Sidebars plugin is activated.
  4. Sidebar position. Your page can have left, right or no sidebar.
  5. Header subtitle. Insert page subtitle.
  6. Page templates: Spooner theme includes several different page templates:
    • Default page template. Multipurpose, without special properties.
    • Contact Us page template is page with contact form and map. Used to display necessary contact information.
    • Food Menu page template will display posts from Food Menu custom post type.
    • Front page template will display page with four sections. You can choose to display regular, gallery, food menu and testimonial posts in those sections. You can also remove any section or change the order of appearance.
    • Gallery page template will display posts from Gallery custom post type.
  7. When you are done with customizing click on the Publish button to publish your page.


Posts

Posts are the entries that are being displayed in reverse chronological order on the page that you select as your Post page in Settings / Reading.

  3. Select sidebar. Choose which widget area will be shown on your page. Note that this option will be available only if TK Custom Sidebars plugin is activated.
  4. Sidebar position. Your page can have left, right or no sidebar.
  5. You can choose one of the following post formats:
    • Standard. Standard post format.
    • Video. You can enter URL to external video service – YouTube or Vimeo. Video will be displayed in content width.
    • Quote. You can enter quote text and quote author. Quote will be displayed in outlined box on the post page.
    • Link. You can enter custom link with custom text. Link will be displayed in outlined box on the post page.
  6. Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content
  7. Add tags to your post.
  8. Featured item. Check this box if you wish to display this post on front page (page that is using Front Page template).
  9. Set featured image. Featured image will be used as cover image.
  10. When you are done with customizing click on the Publish button to publish your post.


Food Menu

In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Custom Post Types Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

Food Menu custom post type allows you to add posts that will be displayed on a page that is using Food Menu page template. To add post go to your admin panel and navigate to Food Menu / Add One Item, or if you choose to add multiple items you can do that by going to Food Menu / Add Many Items. While bulk adding items is easy and fast it doesn’t allow you to add as much information as when you are adding single item. When creating new post you will see the following screen:

  1. Food item title.
  2. Food item content.
  3. Price. Insert price for this item.
  4. Menu Item Labels. Works similar to tags, you can add labels to food item that will be displayed next to the food item title.
  5. Menu Sections. Menu sections are food items categories. Each category will be displayed as a title on page that is using Food Menu page template.
  6. Recommended item. Check this box if you wish to display this post on front page (page that is using Front Page template).
  7. Set featured image. Featured image will be used as cover image.
  8. When you are done with customizing click on the Publish button to publish your post.


Note that Food Menu page template has an option that allows you to display specific categories on a page which allows you create several menu pages with different categories.


In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Custom Post Types Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

Gallery post type allows you to add items that will be shown in page that is using Gallery page template. Gallery items will be displayed in a three column grid. To create new gallery item go to Gallery / Add New in your admin panel and you will see the following screen:

  2. Gallery item content. Will be visible only in single gallery.
  3. Choose between two different formats:
    • Standard. Images have to be set as featured images in order to appear on page with “Gallery” template.
    • Video. You can insert URL to external video service – YouTube or Vimeo. Thumbnail of the video will be shown on gallery page.

  4. Gallery items can be associated to categories, which will allow users to filter images by category on “Gallery” page.
  5. Featured item. Check this box if you wish to display this post on front page (page that is using Front Page template).
  6. When using standard format images must be set as featured image in order to appear on page with “Gallery” template
  7. When you are done editing your gallery item, click on Publish button.


Testimonials

In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Custom Post Types Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

Testimonials post type allows you to create testimonials that can be displayed on a page that is using Front page template. Testimonial section can be added in Appearance / Customize, you can find additional info on how to add that section in Customize / Front Page Sections. To create new testimonial go to Testimonials / Add New in your admin panel and you will see the following screen:

  1. Testimonial name. Usually the name of the person who wrote the testimonial.
  2. Testimonial content. Text that will be displayed below the title.
  3. Featured image will be used as cover image.
  4. When you are done editing your testimonial, click on Publish button.


Advertising post type allows you to create ads that will be displayed in Advertising Widget. This widget can be placed in footer, custom sidebar or default sidebar. In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Advertising Widget Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

  1. Advertisement name.
  2. Advertisement link: Link where advertisement is pointing. You should enter full URL (http://www.example.com).
  3. Custom banner code. Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  4. Featured image will be used as advertisement image.
  5. Ad view / click statistics. Blue line represents number of views and while red represents number of clicks.
  6. Once you click update/publish, your ad will be available in Advertising Widget.

Custom Sidebars

In order for this custom post type to be displayed in your admin make sure to install TK Custom Sidebars Plugin. You can find additional information regarding this plugin in Included plugins section.

Custom Sidebar post type allows you to create additional sidebars. These new sidebars are representing new widget areas in Appearance / Widgets where you can add different widgets to be displayed on specific pages. You can find additional info on how to add widgets into widget areas in Widgets section. Later on you can select to display those new sidebars when creating pages.

  1. Insert sidebar title. This name will not be visible on the front end but only in back end in Appearance / Widgets.
  2. Once you click publish, your new sidebar will be available in Appearance / Widgets.

Section

Installing WordPress

WordPress is well-known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances, installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less then five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools to automatically install WordPress for you. However, we strongly recommend that you install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress.

Theme Installation

Theme can be installed in two different ways:

  • Installing through WordPress
  • The Traditional installation using FTP client

Installing through WordPress

Installing a theme through WordPress is quite easy and it will take only few minutes of your time. First thing you need to do is to access your wordpress admin panel, after you’re done with that navigate to Appearance -> Themes. Click on the Install Themes tab and then Upload from the navigational bar right below it. After that, go to the Choose File button, find section.zip and click Install Now. “Section” theme is now successfully installed, all you have to do now is to activate it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Theme Forest: Please do not upload the whole file you downloaded, make sure that you locate section.zip file inside the main file you have downloaded.

The Traditional installation using FTP client

First things first, you will need an FTP client (example FileZilla which is free, easy to use and it works on Windows, Mac and Linux) to access your web host server. Now that you have access to your WordPress installation files simply transfer your unzipped theme to your server in the ..wp-content/themes/. The only thing left to do after that is activating the theme, to do that go to your WordPress admin panel and navigate to “Appearance” -> “Themes”, search for “Section” and click “Activate” right below it.

Very important note if you bought the theme from Theme Forest: Please do not transfer the whole file you downloaded, make sure that you locate section.zip file inside the main file you have downloaded.

First Steps

There are several things you have to do in order to have fully functional theme.

First, go to “Pages” and create new page. Enter title (e.g. Home), select desired page template (Portfolio Grid, Portfolio Grid Filter, Default Template) and publish page. Now go to “Settings” -> “Reading” and set theme to read static page and select from drop down previously created page(Home). Save changes.

Next important thing to do is setting your permalinks. Go to “Settings” -> “Permalinks” and under Common Settings set “Post name”.

Installing suggested plugins

Section theme comes with extra plugins. After theme activation, you will be prompted to install and/or activate those plugins.

Some plugins are required, since they adds theme functionalities. Other plugins are there to add some extra features.

TK Shortcodes

TK Shortcodes plugin will add awesome shortcodes to your theme. With them you can enrich your content and create different content layouts. Learn more about Themes Kingdom Shortcodes.

TK Social Share

TK Social Share plugin adds social share component to Section theme. After plugin installation, and activation, new option TK Social Share will appear in admin panel sidebar. TK Social Share plugin settings:

  1. General Settings: Her you can set turn on or off where social share plugin will appear – on posts, pages and on archive page.
  2. Social Settings: Easily add or remove desired sharing services. Simply drag and drop desired social networks sharing to enabled services.
  3. Display Settings: Display settings panel allows you to customize position of sharing buttons, and to select style for your sharing buttons.
TK Advertising Widget

Advertising Widgets adds custom post type Advertising. With advertising you can create ads and display them on site. Advertising allows you to create custom banners or to paste third-party banner code(Google Ads). Learn more about Advertising plugin.

Importing Demo Content

If you want your site to look like Section demo, you will need to import demo content.

Go to your Themes Kingdom account and click on the XML icon to download demo file.

After download is complete, you will need to import demo content:

  1. Login into your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Go to Tools -> Import.
  3. Click on the WordPress, install the plugin if you don’t already have it.
  4. When the plugin is opened click on the Choose File button.
  5. Select XML file you previously downloaded.
  6. Select authors to assign to posts. You may choose an existing author or create a new one.
  7. WordPress will then import each of the posts, pages, custom post types, comments, and categories contained in our demo version.
  8. Done! Very important thing to do after you are done with importing demo content is updating menus. To do that go to Appearance -> Menus. Select desired menu and under the Menu Settings at the bottom of the page check Primary Menu, then click Save Menu button to save changes.

Section theme comes with primary menu.

The Primary menu is located in theme’s header area. This menu can contain custom links, pages, categories, tags, or posts.

Creating Primary menu

Login into WordPress admin panel and go to Appearance -> Menus. Click on Create a new menu link. Enter name for your menu(e.g. Primary), and press Create Menu button. Your new menu is created. Now you can add your pages, posts, categories, tags and links to the menu. When you are done check option Primary Menu and press Save Menu button.

  1. Click on “create new menu” to add new menu.
  2. Here you should define a name for your menu, after that click on the Create Menu button right next to it.
  3. Select pages you want to add to your menu. When you are done with selecting pages, click on Add to menu button below. You can also add custom links, posts, categories etc. as you can see in the panels below.
  4. If you want to customize or delete menu item, click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the menu box to expand it. Inside you will find:
  5. This menu editor allows you to create multi-level menus. To do that simply hold your left mouse button and drag desired menu items left or right. Dragging menu items slightly to the right will make them sub-menus for the menu item that is above them. You can also change the order of appearance of menu items by dragging them up or down. Remember to save the changes when you are done with editing (No4).
  6. Set “Primary Menu” check box to checked if you want this to be your primary menu.

Widgets

Widgets are used to add content and features to your sidebar and footer. There are default WordPpress widgets and and custom widgets that come with the theme. Adding and removing widgets is quite easy, just follow the instructions below:

Login into your WordPpress admin panel and navigate to Appearance -> Widgets.

  1. Choose a widget you would like to use, and drag it into the sidebar to right (shown in No 3). Widgets will become active after a page refresh.
  2. Widget area where you place desired widgets.
  3. You can add, remove or customize widgets in widget areas. To do that click on the arrow icon in the top right corner of the widget box to expand it. You can also change the order of appearance by simply dragging widgets up and down.

Section theme have three footer widget areas, and Default and Search sidebars as standard. You can create unlimited number of sidebars from theme Sidebars panel.

Advertising widget

Advertising widget allows you to display ads in sidebars and footer, in order to use this widget you will have to install TK Advertising Widget plugin. You can find out how to add new ads in chapter Advertising.

  1. Select ad you want to show.
  2. Ads can be shown in “fullwidth” or “halfwidth”
  3. You can add custom spacing below the advertising widget
Wolf Flickr widget

Wolf Flickr widget allows you to display images from Flickr, in order to use this widget you will have to install Wolf Flickr Widget plugin.

  1. Insert widget title.
  2. Insert additional text (optional).
  3. Insert Flickr ID. Example 71865026@N00.
  4. Insert number of images you want to be displayed in the widget. Choose from 1 to 10.
  5. Save widget settings.
Newsletter widget

Newsletter widget works with two services – MadMimi and MailChimp. Both MadMimi and MailChimp will require that you to have an active account. For detailed instructions how to set MadMimi or MailChimp accounts, please check this link.

Twitter Stream widget


Twitter widget will display desired number of latest Tweets. It requires you to have Twitter account and Twitter API key.

You can find all the instructions how to setup Twitter here.

  1. Title: Title that will be displayed above the tweets.
  2. Consumer key: Key that you have generated in Twitter API setup. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  3. Consumer Secret: Equivalent to your Twitter password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  4. Access Token: Twitter API token. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  5. Access Token Secret: Twitter API token password. Details how to generate API keys can be found here.
  6. Cache Tweets: Twitter caching option that allows you to set how often tweets will be obtained. This option should speed up site, and reduce chance that you will hit Twitter API calls quota. Usual value is between 2 – 4 hours.
  7. Tweets to display: Number of tweets that will be displayed.
  8. Exclude replies: Check this option if you don’t wish to display replies to your tweets.

Theme Settings

Section theme has custom settings admin panel which allows you to customize the theme and set different features to it. Log in into your WordPress admin panel and navigate to “Section” and you will see five different tabs:

  • General Options
  • Portfolio Grid Options
  • Social
  • Sidebars
  • Contact

General Options

General options allows you to set global options for the theme, such as header logo, favicon and so on.

  1. Favicon: Website icon, ICO file, dimensions: 16×16px.
  2. Header logo: JPEG, GIF or PNG image, recommended up to 500kB.
  3. Google Analytics code: Your Google Analytics code. Please paste whole code here.
  4. Archive Page Sidebar Position: Select sidebar position for Archive page. Choose between right, left or full width.
  5. Search Page Sidebar Position: Select sidebar position for Search page. Choose between right, left or full width.
  6. Footer Copy Text: Text that will be displayed in the footer. By default this options is used to display copyright information.

Portfolio Grid Options

Portfolio grid options section allows you to set number of portfolio posts that will be displayed on page with “Portfolio Grid” or “Portfolio Grid Filter” template. Default number of posts is six.

Social

In Social tab you can set accounts for different social networks and enable or disable social share options.

  1. RSS Feed URL: URL to RSS feed (e.g. http://www.themeskingdom.com/feed/).
  2. Google Plus Account: Enter your Google+ account (e.g. 123456789012345678901).
  3. Facebook: Enter URL to your Facebook profile (e.g. themeskingdom).
  4. Twitter: Enter your Twitter username (e.g. themeskingdom).
  5. LinkedIn: Enter URL to your LinkedIn profile (e.g. http://www.linkedin.com/company/2687325 ).
  6. Pinterest: Enter your Pinterest account (e.g. themeskingdom).
  7. Behance: Enter URL to your Behance account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  8. Dribbble: Enter URL to your Dribbble account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  9. Instagram: Enter URL to your Instagram account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  10. Flickr: Enter URL to your Flickr account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  11. Vimeo: Enter URL to your Vimeo account (e.g.themeskingdom).
  12. Twitter: Using Twitter requires having a Twitter API key. You can find all the instructions how to setup twitter here.
  13. Post sharing: You can enable or disable social share buttons on single blog posts.

Sidebars

In sidebars section you can add or remove custom sidebars. Custom sidebars allows you to define sidebars for each page or post that you make. If you don’t have any defined custom sidebars, then default sidebar will be displayed on those pages. With theme installation you will get default sidebars. Creating custom sidebars is quite simple – enter a name for custom sidebar and hit “Update settings”. This way you created new widget area, which is going to be available under “Appearance” -> “Widgets”. After you add widgets to created widget area, you will be able to pick that sidebar when you create pages or posts.

Contact

In contact section you can change error and notification messages and change Google maps parameters.

  1. Subject for your contact form: Email subject when you get mail from contact form.
  2. Name error message: Message that will be displayed when name is missing.
  3. E-mail error message: Message that will be displayed when email is missing or is in incorrect format
  4. Message text error message: Message that will be displayed when message text is missing.
  5. Message on successful e-mail send: Message that will be displayed when message is successfully sent.
  6. Message for error on e-mail send: General error message. This error message is related to server or connection errors.
  7. Disable Captcha on contact page: Check this box if you want to disable captcha on contact page.
  8. Remove Map: If this option is checked, Google map will not be displayed.
  9. Default Map Color: If this option is checked, map will use default Google colors for roads. Otherwise, selected color will be used.
  10. Google Map Color: Color that will be used for major roads on Google map.
  11. Google map X coordinate: Google maps latitude.
  12. Google map Y coordinate: Google maps longitude.
  13. Google map zoom factor: Zoom factor – higher value, higher zoom in. Recommended value is 16.
  14. Marker Title: Text that will be displayed in balloon on the map marker.
  15. Google Map type: Map type. You can choose between hybrid, roadmap, terrain and satellite.

Posts

Section theme comes with several different post formats: Standard, Video, Quote and Link.

    1. Post title: Name of your post. It will be displayed on the front end.
    2. Post content: Content of your post – text, images, shortcodes and other.
    3. Sidebar Position: In Sidebar Position you can set position of your sidebar (left, right or none) and to select desired sidebar area that will be used on particular post. More about creating custom sidebars can be found here.
    4. Publish: Publish options. You can set custom date and time for publishing your post, and set post status – draft, in review or published.
    5. Post formats: Different post formats will display content in different way. You can choose one of the following post formats:
      1. Standard
      2. Video
      3. Quote
      4. Link
    6. Category: Each post in WordPress is filed under one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows posts to be grouped with others of similar content.
    7. Tags: Tags are words that allows you to organize posts by similar content.
    8. Set featured image: Featured image will be used as cover image on front end.
    9. Enable TK Sharing Box: You can enable and disable social sharing on single post. This panel is visible only if TK Social Share plugin is installed and activated.
    10. Discussions: You can disable and enable comments on single post. This setting will override global setting in Settings -> Discussions.

Standard post format

Standard post format is the most common format, and it can be used for different purposes. In Standard post format, featured image will be displayed above the title and post content.

Video post format

Video post format allows you to easily add video to your post. After selecting Video format, additional Video Options panel will be displayed below editor area. Here you can paste URL to your video (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo…). Player with your video will be displayed above the post title and content.

Quote post format

Quote post format is great way to display different thoughts. After selecting quote Quote post format, two additional fields for quote text and quote author will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Featured image and text will be displayed on black background, so quote and image will look like poster.

Link post format

With Link post format you can create cool looking links to interesting Internet locations. After selecting quote Link post format, two additional fields for link text and link URL will be displayed below the editor. On the front end, featured image will be displayed above the quote text and quote author. Link post format will display featured image above the post title and link text. Featured image and text will be displayed on white background.

Pages

Pages live outside of the normal blog chronology, and are often used to present timeless information. You can use Pages to organize and manage any content. “Section” theme comes with five page templates: “Default Template”, “Blog”, “Contact Us”, “Portfolio Grid” and “Portfolio Grid Filter”. Sidebar position feature is not available for “Portfolio Grid” and “Portfolio Grid Filter” pages.

  1. Page title: Enter desired page title here.
  2. Page content: Here you can insert your content – text, images, shortcodes and other.
  3. Sidebar position: This panel allows you to select sidebar position on the page – left, right or no sidebar (full width page). Also, here you can select which sidebar will be used and displayed on the page.
  4. Publish: You can set page visibility (public, private and password protected), publish date and status. “Publish” button will publish page.
  5. Page Attributes: Page attributes panel allows you to select page template and page relation (parent-child). There are five available page templates:
    1. Default Template: Standard, multi-purpose page template, without special features.
    2. Blog: “Blog” page template is landing page for all blog posts. It will display all posts in reverse chronological order.
    3. Contact Us: Page template with map and contact form.
    4. Portfolio Grid: Page which will display all “Portfolio” post types.
    5. Portfolio Grid Filter: Page which will display all “Portfolio” post types, but with portfolio categories filter.
  6. Set featured image: Featured image will be displayed at the top of the page.

For pages with “Portfolio Grid” and “Portfolio Grid Filter” tempalte there are additional options.

  1. Portfolio Item Title Display: Option which defines where title will be displayed – inside the box or below the box.
  2. Portfolio Columns Display: Defines portfolio page layout – 3 columns or 4 columns.

Please note that sidebar feature is not enabled on pages with portfolio grid or portfolio grid with filter templates.

Advertising is custom post type which allows you to display advertising in “Advertisement Widget”. You can find more information how to use Advertising Widget in Advertising Widget section.

  1. Ad Title: Enter advertisement title. Title is used to easily recognize different ads.
  2. Advertisement Link: Here you can enter your custom URL for advertisement or to paste custom banner code (e.g. Google Ads). Here is a guide how to get Google AdSense code.
  3. Publish: You can set page visibility (public, private and password protected), publish date and status. “Publish” button will publish page.
  4. Featured image: Featured image must be set, so banner should appear. Since ads are displayed in “Advertisement Widget”, suggested image size is 250x250px.

Portfolio

Portfolio is custom post type, which is used to display recent works.

  1. Portfolio Title: Enter desired portfolio title here.
  2. Portfolio content: Here you can insert your content – text, images, shortcodes and other.
  3. Publish: You can set post visibility (public, private and password protected), publish date and status. “Publish” button will publish post.
  4. Format: Different formats allows you to create portfolio posts with different post content and layout. You can choose between two formats: standard and video.
  5. Portfolio Categories: Portfolio posts can be associated with one or more categories. This aids in navigation and allows portfolio posts to be grouped with others of similar content. Also, it will allow you to use filter on page with “Portfolio Grid Filter” template.
  6. Parallax Image: Parallax image will be displayed on single portfolio post page. This image will slowly scroll as you scroll down the page. Recommended image size is 1920x940px.
  7. Featured image: Featured image will be displayed on page with “Portfolio Grid” or “Portfolio Grid Filter” template. Featured image will be displayed above title on single portfolio post page if you don’t set parallax image. Featured image is not available if you select video format.
